Mike Flanagan and Netflix are pairing up, yet again, to bring a horror spectacle to life! Previously, Flanagan and Netflix worked together to create horror masterpices such as 'Haunting of Hill House' and it's spiritual sequel 'Haunting of Bly Manor.' Now, Flanagan is set to produce a new pilot based on the hit BOOM! Studios comic, 'Something is Killing the Children.' And with a name like that, we can only imagine the thrills and chills Flanagan will create for us!
'Something is Killing the Children' is an original comic book created by writer James Tynion IV and artist Werther Dell'Edera focusing on the town of Archer's Peak. As children go missing without explanation, the town is sent into a frenzy. But when some of the kids return, it isn't cause for celebration quite yet. Those that do bring with them haunting stories of monsters that live deep in the shadows around us. When all seems hopeless, a mysterious stranger named Erica Slaughter enters their town. Erica's job? She kills monsters. And she's willing to do anything and everything to save Archer's Peak from what awaits them. The horror comic debuted in 2019 as a limited series but, eventually, turned into an ongoing project due to its overwhelmingly positive reception.
Flanagan won't be alone in bringing to life the nightmares of the Archer's Peak children; Trevor Macy, a consistent collaborator that has worked with Flanagan on the likes of 'Hill House,' 'Doctor Sleep,' and 'Gerald's Game,' is set to join him. Macy will function as showrunner for the series, and other individuals, including executives from BOOM! Studios, will collaborate as executive producers.
Production has only just been announced and the project is still in its developmental stage; so, disappointingly, everyone will have to wait in anticipation to see the monsters of Archer's Peak come to life. Lucky for us, before Flanagan and Macy work their story magic and bring to the screen a dark and debillitating tale, we have the chance to discover it now! 'Something is Killing the Children' is up to issue #17 and is availabe for those that can't wait for the series and for those that just don't want to!
