Snobbish Fanboys & The Internet in General

To anybody who cares, this is just a little rant I want get off my chest about the behavior of people on this website, particularly pertaining to the nonacceptance of differing opinions.

Let's face it, we're all familiar with cyberbullying by now. Same thing with trolling, as long as we attack others online in some way or fashion, both things apply.

Especially here on Comic Book Movie, where if you say that you like a movie, artist, comic, actor/actress, show, or video-game that other's don't happen to like that much, well, you'll be shamed. That's just how it is, & it doesn't just occur on this site, but everywhere else: YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, etc. What many people fail to realize is that no one person's mindset is alike. We see things differently than each other. For example, I'm more open-minded towards a lot of things, & even aknowledge the flaws that those things may have, but you'll never see me insult anybody for their tastes, that's just not how I roll. It may be no big deal to you, but I treat & respect people online just like I do in real life.

I've gotten used to this, as this website LITERALLY goes through the same routine everyday. I'd go so far as saying that I see that the hating is mostly coming from the MCU fans, or Marvelites as they've been famously called. I'm obviously not gonna single anyone out, but most of you all know who you are. Whether it's talking about films like the infamous The Amazing Spider-Man 2, or simply stating the slightest bit of criticism of anything Marvel Studios related, there's always bound to be a shitstorm to approach afterwards.

My thing is, if someone likes something that you don't, then why get so caught up & confused about it? It shouldn't affect you, & you also need to realize that your opinion isn't fact (Well, I know TASM 2 & Fant4stic wasn't critically well recieved, but there are still good elements to those movies).

How would you feel if someone insulted something you had a guilty pleasure of liking? You'd defend it just like how the others & I who defended previous Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield. Whether you think he's a great guy or not doesn't matter, what matters that he had passion for the role, & he's merely just opening up about the Arad-ing of the films.

Welp, that's something I wanted to get off my chest, feel free to tell me stuff like

"You're making a big deal out of nothing."
"You still have bad taste."
"Someone's still butthurt from yesterday."

in the comments down below. :) Becasue guess what:

Later.

Just a guy who likes comic... things.
Be it movies, the books, games, tv. DC & Marvel are both my favorite, so you won't have to worry about trolling, that ain't my style. I'm an open-minded person & I'm super cool around anyone who's the same to me.

People take superheroes way too seriously. We're talking about aliens, robots, ancient gods, etc. Not exactly life and death shit.

People take entertainment in general to serious hell it's where the term FANBOY came from. No one is allowed to have a different opinion everyone is either a hivemind asshole or a circlejerk of people bitching about the same things over and over.

Not just comic book movies, same with Football (Or Soccer for some).

At the end of the day everyone has an opinion, everyone's are different, neither person is normally wrong.

There's one thing people don't ever seem to realize - it's perfectly okay to have guilty pleasures. It's okay to like bad things. Who cares, just as long as someone is able to be mature enough to go "You know what? I recognize the flaws, I can totally see why everyone hates it...but I like it anyway. It appeals to me personally, and here's why..."

Bam. Once someone says that, then there's nothing left to say. No more reason to debate, no arguments, no butthurt, nothing. Just good, old-fashioned, healthy conversation. It's simple, and people don't take advantage of that enough, IMO.

What causes all these flame-wars and stuff is when people feel the need to be overly-defensive of their favorite stuff. They perceive attacks on a movie as attacks on themselves, and so they overreact. I know us fanboys LOVE these movies and comics...but again, it takes a certain amount of maturity to step back, recognize that our identity isn't rooted in the movie itself, and relax.

Love how you wrote an article about fans bitching then end it asking us to comment below but you said you care very little what we say even though this is an entire article about how much you care what people on this site say.

Bout the intelligence level of someone who would like TASM series.

Ah.

Just another excuse to call out Marvel fans and make the "other guys" look innocent and outnumbered. As usual.

"My thing is, if someone likes something that you don't, then why get so caught up & confused about it?"

So at the same time, if someone doesn't like something that you do, why care about that either? Works both ways. A troll is only annoying if you can't ignore him and feel some need to respond.

I have nothing against ANewPope, I think he just hasn't been on this site long enough, maybe, but

@LexHairFight

"Ich bin ein Berliner"

With that comment, you not only just won this thread but you also just renewed my faith in this site, haha.

Right on
