THE FIRST Cowboys and Aliens was one of the best trailers of the year, if not one of the top trailers ever…a perfect blend of suspense, surprise, giving away a lot without giving away too much—it leaves that warm taste in you mouth of anticipation.
THE NEW Cowboys and Aliens trailer on the other hand is over-loaded, filled to the brim with spoilers. I am afraid to watch the trailer again it gave away so much. I hope this is a trick or something. It seems Jon Fav thinks that people weren’t getting his movie, maybe that is true but I don’t see why I had to see all this info, what I saw in the trailer after seeing it once:
Clancy brown dies.
D Craig H Ford and apparently Sam Rockwell (cool) go off after the aliens to get a handful of loved ones and the town’s people.
Olivia Wilde plays spiritual informative guide
Olivia Wilde is also an alien. Okay maybe she is just from a town that has been attacked, but are there more options?
The aliens look like aliens, like from Aliens, and the aliens like kidnap people but don’t kill them, sucking out blood through tubes.
The first trailer was so awesome, I was a fool to watch the new one, I should have kept my ears shut, eyes to the ground until I had my but in the theater seat. But let’s watch it again to verify what I think I saw (it’s not like I wont see it on the TV no matter how hard I try to look away)
The opening Daniel Craig line fits in well with the idea that people don’t get this film this narration will surely not be in the film: "I woke up in the desert, like i fell out of the sky"
Looks like bearded Clancy Brown(above from Lost) could die during that first attack we keep seeing in the trailers. Save our people he says is his dying words. Could be dragged out longer, either way to see the Clancy Brown death seems to be excessive spoiler. Not like there isn’t still a lot of mystery but like if Mark Hamill is going to show up I don’t want know until I see it. That Clancy brown death shot is pretty short, there are lot of other short flashes, investigating further will lead to more spoilers I imagine.
Anyhow, it feels like too much it is insane. I mean hey it is badass, it is sick; it looks goood, but so MUCH.
Some trailers are purposely misleading, secretive and mysterious, but this new trailer is not that. Not like you can’t cut something up and mislead people to false spoilers and plot but given this following Jon Fav tweet I think the new trailer is a clear representation of the movie.
Jon_Favreau tweets:
I think they're starting to get it. (link to an article titled Cowboys and Aliens makes a whole lot more sense now-nypost)
I can get that people didn’t get the movie, even after the first trailer because people are idiots, people are fearful and easily mislead and confused. But come on, Cowboys and Aliens enough said. Cowboys and Aliens and Jon Favreau, say no more. James Bond and Han Solo as his co-pilot!, oh my god. I say forget about those people who don’t or didn’t get it seconds after the concept and cast were explained…those people aren’t fans, the fans know that Jon Fav and Cowboys and Aliens can be trusted, and the fans will spread the word to the fools that this is a must see movie.
