DAREDEVIL: New Evidence Backs Up Recent Reports That Marvel Studios Is Actively Developing A Reboot

We've recently been hearing rumours that Marvel Studios is developing a new Daredevil TV series or movie, and further evidence has now suggested a reboot is indeed in the works. Read on for details...

After playing the Man Without Fear in three seasons of Daredevil and crossover series The Defenders, Charlie Cox finally made his MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home last December. Rumour has it we'll see the hero make his presence felt in She-Hulk and Echo, but Marvel Studios may have even more ambitious plans beyond those shows.

Following recent rumours of plans for a new movie or TV show, Production Weekly has listed a project described simply as "Daredevil reboot." It's unclear whether this would be for theaters or Disney+, but an MCU-set "season 4" would make fans very happy.

While there was a lot of disappointment surrounding Netflix's decision to cancel its Marvel Television TV shows, Daredevil was the only one fans campaigned for with the #SaveDaredevil hashtag on social media. As a result, Marvel Studios and Disney are bound to have taken note of the character's popularity, so a fresh start on the big or small screen stands a strong chance of being a hit.

Production Weekly tends to be a little hit-and-miss (sometimes sharing loglines based on rumours or what they've found on Wikipedia), so it's best to take this with a pinch of salt for now.

Either way, Marvel Studios clearly has big plans for Daredevil over the next few years. Even across three seasons on Netflix, the hero's world wasn't explored to its full potential, so we have faith in the MCU rectifying that.

What are your hopes for a Daredevil reboot?

hope its a continuation not a reboot . would love that history from the show to be part of his back story and that way they can skip the whole origin thing

@19Batman84 -

Agreed, although if they want to "MCU" it up in the process, I'm fine with that.

@19Batman84 - 100% agree. They should just carry on where they left off with as many of the supporting cast as possible and just gentle massage anything they wish to tweak.

@19Batman84 - soft reboot or change in direction. Have the shows count but actively move past them.

Please no, I'm fine with the occasional Avengers reference/cameo, but I don't want the dark tone of the series radically altered to include forced, out-of-place comedy.

@19Batman84 - They should set Season 4 the moment Thanos snaps his fingers. And have Ronin (Jeremy Renner) cameo. It can explain Fisk escaping Prison with the help of Mister Fear who has an obsession with Daredevil being the Man without Fear. His intent is to terrorize Hell's Kitchen and with half of The Avengers blipped away, his primary focus is using Fisk resources to bring out the Man without Fear.

@19Batman84 - The cool thing about the multiverse is they can literally pick and choose what pieces from the Netflix show they want to keep. They could easily say that in the MCU proper, the things from the Netflix show did happen, but not exactly the same way. And then they can remove stupid things like the entire Defenders piece, or the Karen Paige/Punisher stuff.

@Spike101 - With the Multiverse they can do just that. All they have to do is say that this Daredevil went through the same things as the Netflix Daredevil, but things happened slightly different in the MCU, so the Defenders were never a thing, and Karen Paige/Punisher wasn't a thing.

Just as an example.

@soberchimera - The thing that bothers me is how every single character seems to get tied into the Avengers stuff. Just like in the comics, it's okay for some characters to be In their own corner of the MCU and not cross over with the main Avengers people.

Punisher is one of those guys. I fully believe the X-Men should be in their own corner. It's okay for them to establish the X-Men and Avengers as allies or whatever, and team up in a big Infinity War level finale movie, but their solo films should just be all them. I don't need Captain America or Bruce Banner popping up in every X-Men movie any more than I need Deadpool showing up in everyone else's movies and making it suddenly take a turn for the idiotic.

@CorndogBurglar - I really hope they do something sensible here and don’t trash the excellent story we already have.

@19Batman84 @tylerzero -
I think it will be a soft reboot. The Netflix show 100% happened, but the new show is:

• Years later.
• New status quo.
• PG-13.
• MCU connections.
• Kingpin is buffed, like in Hawkeye and the comics.
• Bullseye is more comic accurate, but with the same actor and a vendetta against Kingpin because of Season 3.
• They might even go the Mark Waid route, and make it a more light-hearted show with serious elements and a bigger emphasis on the superhero aspect.
• Because of circumstances related to the blip, Vanessa (VANESSA!) is probably dead.

@soberchimera - totally agree they need to keep as much of the Netflix shows as possible, particularly the supporting cast and the tone. Adding the ridiculous forced humour that has blighted some many other recent MCU productions would be a disaster.

@GodHercules20 - Shit that looks amazingly better and like a natural evolution from his Netflix suits to that.

One small change I would make though is make the DD look the way it does, but make it as small as the first pic. It would look ridiculous as it is in the MCU as no other hero has a “logo” that big; especially 2 D’s lol. Make it smaller in line with Spidey’s and Captain marvel.

Super hyped for a potential reboot, though I’m nervous for the development team. Netflix DD seasons 1 and 3 are simply two of the greatest comic book TV show seasons of all time, so a reboot will be compared very closely to that, and it’ll be difficult to measure up. Fingers crossed.
Spike101
Spike101 - 3/17/2022, 4:55 PM
@2050 - it’s going to be a very hard act to follow with screwing it up so their best shot is to just run with it and make the next show all about Bullseye and keep as many of the supporting cast as they can. The only thing I’d reboot as it were would be to get Elektra back in the story with Elodie Yung playing her again and to also bring back Stick who was another brilliant character from the show (might be asking too much there but no harm in trying)

A movie would be fine but just spit balling, a Daredevil TV show is probably more budget friendly for Didney than something more CGI heavy, which they need those ticket sales to re-coup. I'd place my bet there.
