DC Studios is in the midst of putting together its new DCU slate, though we only know a sampling of what's heading our way as part of "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters."
Understandably, Superman and Batman look set to be at the forefront of this reboot, though characters like Swamp-Thing, Green Lantern, and Supergirl will also take centre stage. Now, James Gunn has revealed whether fans can expect to see any Milestone Universe characters join the fray in the near future.
As you can see below, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director has confirmed he has something planned for Static, news that we're sure many of you are going to welcome.
The most well-known hero to hail from Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, Derek T. Dingle, and Christopher Priest's Milestone Universe, there have long been talks of bringing Virgil Hawkins to the screen. In 2021, we learned that Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan was developing a movie, though it was likely part of the previous Warner Bros. regime that wanted to bring DCEU movies to HBO Max.
Along with starring in four seasons of his own animated TV show, Static Shock, the hero has appeared in episodes of Justice League Unlimited and Young Justice.
While Gunn is touring the world to promote his Guardians of the Galaxy threequel, it's unclear how much he'll be talking to the press. If he does take part in junkets, though, we can likely expect him to drop a few more hints about both the DCU and his plans for Superman: Legacy.
So far, the DC Studios co-CEO appears open to making use of pretty much any and every character, so we're sure Static isn't the only possibility on the table right now.
