The first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 debuted online yesterday evening, but once the movie is released next May, that will be in for James Gunn in the MCU for the foreseeable future.
Over the next few years, the filmmaker looks set to be very busy taking charge of the DCU as new DC Studios co-CEO alongside producer Peter Safran. Gunn is also expected to take the helm of at least one more DC movie, though what that secret project is currently remains to be seen (we're hoping for a Man of Steel sequel).
Just like Gunn has brought Peacemaker star Chukwudi Iwuji into the MCU as The High Evolutionary, we expect him to enlist at least some of his Guardians of the Galaxy actors for the DCU.
Could Mantis actress Pom Klementieff be among them?
During a recent Twitter exchange, Gunn appeared to confirm that he has plans for Klementieff in his and Safran's ten-year plan for the DCU. The actress made a blink-and-you'd-miss-it cameo in The Suicide Squad as a dancer; however, we can't imagine that's closed the door on her coming back as a lead hero or villain.
Tim will tell who that ends up being, but we'd love to see Pom play Mantis and a character in the DCU. Gunn made a point of showcasing her in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, allowing her to steal the show and establishing Star-Lord's sister as the MCU's new MVP.
We're sure Warner Bros. would jump at the chance to bring her into the fold, especially with Gunn expected to once again put the spotlight on her talents in his upcoming Guardians threequel.
