DC Studios' Deathstroke & Bane Movie Reportedly Has A Very Surprising Title

While The Brave and the Bold languishes in development hell, it's full steam ahead for DC Studios' Deathstroke & Bane movie, which has now received a surprising title based on a new report.

It's been over two years since we learned that DC Studios was developing a Deathstroke & Bane team-up movie from a script by Captain America: Brave New World and Moon Knight writer Matthew Orton.

For fans of the iconic villains, it was considered an exciting development. Very little has been revealed since, though fans continue to question why James Gunn and Peter Safran are seemingly prioritising two villains over the likes of Batman and Wonder Woman.

What we do know is that Peacemaker Season 2 director Greg Mottola is reportedly the frontrunner to helm Deathstroke & Bane, which now appears to have a working title.

According to Deadline, the movie will be called Savage Hunters. That doesn't give us much to go on, and it doesn't seem to be a title with a basis in the comic books. However, it may imply that Slade Wilson and Bane will be bounty hunters or something along those lines.

It's not hugely surprising that Gunn is eager to develop a project in the same vein as The Suicide Squad. Unfortunately, there's nothing to suggest Batman will clash with either of his longtime foes in Savage Hunters (unless The Brave and the Bold quickly takes shape and the DCU's Caped Crusader makes a cameo appearance, of course).

Very much like Sony's Marvel Universe—which didn't have a Spider-Man—it seems DC Studios is prioritising Batman's villains in movies without Bruce Wayne in them. First up is this month's R-rated horror movie, Clayface, which isn't expected to feature Batman despite being set in Gotham City.

For what it's worth, the trade reports that The Brave and the Bold, Savage Hunters, Teen Titans, Swamp Thing, and Wonder Woman are all in early development and have yet to be greenlit. As of now, there's no word on what movies will follow Man of Tomorrow, as DC Studios currently has nothing scheduled for 2028 and beyond.

Bane was born in the fictional Caribbean prison of Peña Duro, where he was forced to serve a life sentence from birth. Using a drug called Venom to enhance his physical power, his most iconic feat came when he "broke the Bat."

Deathstroke, a.k.a. Slade Wilson, is a highly skilled mercenary and assassin who gained enhanced strength, agility, and intelligence through a government experiment. Known for his tactical genius and expert combat skills, he's targeted many heroes over the years, including Batman and the Teen Titans.

Keep checking back here for updates on Deathstroke & Bane as we have them.

This is a bad idea. Once again..Gunn making the same mistakes as the last clown in.thd old DCEU. These 2 in their own movie = bad. These two in a Batman movie = good. Its really not that difficult!

Have a feeling Lex will put bounties on people in salvation. Lex will become president after man of tomorrow and blame Superman for brainiac and Clark goes to salvation on his own. Bruce is investigating salvation. And Lex put a bounty on both of them in there. Kinda like public enemies.

@PatientXero - Substance seems a good benchmark, which made around 80m from less than 20m budget. Those are the kind of numbers they must have been looking at when greenlighting it.

@Batmangina - Hey! Laugh all you want, but it requires a special kind of talent to take stories about a U.S. president transforming into a giant red rage monster, or a mercenary resurrected by an Egyptian god, and turn them into painfully boring and non-sensical slop! Plus, you throw in a lapdog director from a sub-par streaming show, and this thing is a real shoo-in!

@twagavelli - Correction. The master craftsman behind this article who referred to Greg Mottola as a director of some Peacemaker episodes, exhibited true journalistic prowess by neglecting to mention the man directed Superbad, and wrote and directed Adventureland. Even still, the prospect doesn't sound too great. But hey, maybe we can get Michael Cera and Jonah Hill to play Bane and Deathstroke!

Savage Hunters is a horrible title for a project like this. Honestly, the whole thing is a weird idea. If this universe’s Batman already existed and had his own films, that’s one thing. But audiences aren’t going to show up for Batman villain & Batman villain without Batman. You could point to the Joker movie, but Joker as a character has transcended being just a Batman villain. People look to that character on screen with curiosity about the performance, and the role has granted two different actors Academy Awards.

New versions of Bane and Deathstroke in a universe that hasn’t yet introduced its Batman on the big screen is just weird.

I’d say the same about Clayface, but I think the box office will speak for itself. And I’m moderately curious about Clayface strictly as a horror fan. But it won’t do well, even if it’s good.

Seriously, how hard is it to just give us the big heroes first? Do a Batman movie with Deathstroke and Bane as villains.

@SheepishOne - pretty hard honestly considering it’s likely WB or Skydance don’t want 2 live action Batman’s at the same time.

Savage Hunters seems like a working title to me but we’ll see…

A Deathstroke & Bane film sounds interesting to me due to the unexpected combination of both and seeing how they might play off each other so I’m intrigued as of now.

Given it’s in development , it means it may not be even greenlit so people going on about them doing Batman villains before Batman need to relax since it may not even happen!!.
