It Appears DC Studios Will Sit Out This Year's San Diego Comic-Con Despite Recent SUPERMAN: LEGACY Casting

We recently learned who will headline James Gunn's upcoming Superman reboot, but it appears neither he nor DC Studios will be present for this year's San Diego Comic-Con as the WGA strike continues...

We're in the midst of a WGA strike which has no clear end in sight, and it's already been confirmed that Marvel Studios and pretty much every other major studio will be skipping this month's San Diego Comic-Con.

After all, it's hard to hype up future projects if you don't know for sure whether they'll be able to meet their planned release dates...or even have a completed script in time for when production is supposed to begin. Now, it's looking like DC Studios won't have a presence at the event.

As you can see below, James Gunn has confirmed he won't be at the show, though did hint at the newly created studio having a bigger presence in 2024.

This makes sense on a number of levels. While it's possible Warner Bros. still intends to host an Hall H panel, showcasing future DC Studios titles alongside upcoming DCEU projects such as Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom...that would be a very bad idea after The Flash

DC Studios is also unlikely to actually have anything to share; aside from Superman: Legacy, none of its upcoming movies have completed screenplays and the best they could probably do is reveal some concept art and some early footage from Creature Commandos. With that in mind, there's really no point in appearing.

Studios spend millions on booking out Hall H for splashy presentations, so waiting until 2024 to hype up plans for the new DC is a smart move.

Still, it's a shame to see the event revert to its pandemic status as a show that's likely to pass most of us by instead of being one of the most exciting weekends of the year!

Are you still excited for Comic-Con?

DC Studios will not make a Hall H appearance at San Diego Comic Con this year. They’ll ‘probably’ be there next year.

GOOD.
Great things take time.

NO RUSH for Gunn and company.
They already LOCKED DOWN Corenswet as opposed Marvel flailing desperately calling every number for someone to play Sue Storm and Reed Richards.

LOL.

Notice how Superman was a competition. It seems like all these FF castings are all trying to leave the house before it collapses.

SO SAD. LOL

Whoever actually gets cast as Sue and Reed are going to be the two biggest underpaid pity[frick]s in the world.

LOL.

And everyone is going to know it.

@TempleRod - just so I don’t misunderstand, are you in marvel versus DC mode right now? One is doing ok to bad, the other is just doing that. And we just drop it and say they both suck and somehow we’re still obsessed with it? “If you say they both suck then that means DC’s doin better because TDK trilogy n ver sucked including and especially Rises, to the point that the far better DCU is far better and arguably superior box office from the perspective of consumerism being evil bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla BLA! BLA! BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!”

Voice text, smh that one was way off! All of said was “Fantastic Four feels like another Antman 3 waiting to happen”

@TempleRod - ok so they want to avoid the collapsing temple but ain’t goin to an already collapsed temple dumb too? “That’s why they hired no namers” well. That’s nothin to brag about either. Or like the kid’s say, that ain’t a flex. Back to my point. Ain’t neither one doin great. But one of em is still in its universe. Yeah the MCU seems to be headed towards ending with a whimper. But it ain’t there yet.

@TempleRod - why is it so many americans (youre clearly american), break everything down into a binary choice- dem, rep, pepsi, coke, mcu, dcu? seriously. cant we agree that they are both producing some pretty rubbish stuff of late?

Gunn, is not going to save the DCU in my opinion. but i also think GOTG 3 was not a great a movie. and the mcu has been on a downward spiral arguable since infinity war. yep endgame was not a good movie.

@Gizmoduck - I mean yea the DCEU was doa after Man of steel but pre DCEU?The original Superman movie The dark knight minuses rises Watchmen.
Gizmoduck
Gizmoduck - 7/5/2023, 12:38 AM
@pitbull76 - i dont count the nolan triolgy, it was good sure, old superman is nostalgia, the movie actually stinks. I like watchmen, wasnt a huge fan like some and only read the comic after the film came out.

Im talking snyder and beyond, MoS was ok, BvS was meh, i like ZS:JL a lot more, but its still just ok. Flash was not great, WW was ok, Shazam was good, shazam two stunk, black adam was not great, SS1 was bad, SS2 was good, AM was good, AM2 will probably stink, ww2 was horrible, BoP was battlefield earth bad, peacemaker was good.

DC never got a good set of films off the ground, it was OK, bad, meh, ok, bad, ok, meh - rinse repeat.

@Gizmoduck - yes I agree Man of Steel was great after that the mistake was rushing.1 solo movie the right into BatmanvSuperman the from there Justice League. No slow burn.
Gizmoduck
Gizmoduck - 7/5/2023, 3:56 PM
@pitbull76 - No slow burn could work but there was no need to jump into BvS, at least give more reason for bruce not to trust him.

Think it would take any hype away from Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2 (if there's even any). Think it's smart to go all out next year when the new universe is about to start.

Same with Marvel. This year there isn't much to reveal besides a possible FF casting, whereas next year they can showcase their entire Phase 6 line-up.
TempleRod
TempleRod - 7/2/2023, 7:57 AM
@bkmeijer1 - LOL. What hype?!?

Both movies are dead in the water ever since the Corenswet casting.

This whole shitshow couldn't be over SOONER.
SAME WITH MARVEL. Except they don't have any savior coming around the corner. They are just [frick]ed with how much they suck for a long time.

Maybe in five years, the X-Men might actually come. LOL. Let's see about that.
