With James Gunn hard at work relaunching DC Studios as it's new CEO, many are already wondering what the future holds for the Guardians of the Galaxy actors. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will not only be the conclusion of the trilogy but Gunn's tenure at Marvel Studios. With that, some are expecting some of the actors in this franchise might be parting ways with Marvel as well.
Now we shouldn't expect ALL the characters to depart at the end of Vol. 3, but it does seem like the Guardians of the Galaxy roster will be much different by the time we see them in another project or sequel.
When asked what the future holds for some of these actors following Vol. 3, Gunn hinted to Empire magazine that Star-Lord's Chris Pratt, and potentially others could jump ship to Gunn's DC Universe stating "This cast are like my family. I cannot tell you how close I am to Chris Pratt and Pom [Klementieff] and Dave [Bautista] and Zoe [Saldaña] and Karen [Gillan]. But I also know I will work again with all those people individually again. Probably at my other job.”
This shouldn't be too much of a shock for fans of Gunn's work. With actors Michael Rooker ("Yondu") and Sean Gunn ("Kraglin") already jumping over to DC to star in Gunn's 2021 film The Suicide Squad as Savant and Weasel. While his DC collaborators Chuckwudi Iwuji (" Peacemaker's Clemson Murn") and Daniela Melchior ("Ratcatcher 2") jumped over to Marvel.
Dave Bautista has already mentioned wanting to portray DC's Bane in a film. Whether or not Gunn would cast him in that role is anyone's guess. However after Gunn's recent statement, it's definitely something we should expect him to consider.
Only time will tell what plan Gunn has for these actors and these DC characters, but for right now, all we can do is speculate.
Do you see any of these actors in a DC role, are there any your hoping for, let us know below?
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 only in theaters May 5th.
