The People vs. Gorilla Grodd Will Feature A Major Peacemaker Reunion — Possible Spoilers

Two major Peacemaker characters are reportedly set to reunite in The People vs. Gorilla Grodd, but what brings Christopher Smith's unlikely allies into the "true" crime docuseries?

Peacemaker was released in 2022 as a follow-up to The Suicide Squad. The series was a hit with fans and critics, and when James Gunn was hired to reboot the DCEU as the DCU, he wasted no time in figuring out how to bring Christopher Smith into the same world as Superman.

Peacemaker Season 2 was released last year and, courtesy of a cleverly edited recap, the events of Season 1 were made (mostly) canon.

Smith is now stranded in Salvation, a location we believe will be key to the DCU's future. Next summer's Man of Tomorrow is bound to touch on that in some way, and a new rumour reveals that HBO Max's The People vs. Gorilla Grodd will feature a Peacemaker reunion.

According to former Nexus Point News reporter @ApocHorseman, "Vigilante and Judomaster are set to return in The People vs. Gorilla Grodd. Freddie Storma and Nhut Le each shot their scenes in one day and are expected to appear in one episode."

With no sign of Peacemaker Season 3 on the horizon, it's not hugely surprising that Gunn has found room for Vigilante and Judomaster in this upcoming comedy series. What role they'll play in the story is a mystery, though it's safe to assume that Checkmate may factor into proceedings.

Vigilante is a trigger-happy vigilante who operates alongside Peacemaker. A skilled marksman and hand-to-hand fighter, Adrian Chase has an unwavering belief that he's doing the right thing. Judomaster, meanwhile, is a highly skilled martial artist, despite his diminutive stature.

The People v. Gorilla Grodd follows a superintelligent ape who is convicted of murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City. In an eight-part "true" crime docuseries, the Daily Planet's Jimmy Olsen reopens the case, investigating whether Gorilla Grodd was wrongly convicted in one of Metropolis' most famous murder trials.

The Max Original comedy stars Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Jimmy Tatro as Gorilla Grodd, and Superman actors Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White.

The series also stars Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Dan Perrault, Andrew Leeds, and Tim Baltz. Their respective roles have not been revealed. Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault will serve as showrunners, writers, and executive producers, with Yacenda set to direct all episodes. James Gunn and Peter Safran also serve as executive producers.

The People vs. Gorilla Grodd will likely premiere on HBO Max in 2027 or 2028.
