Recently appointed DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran haven't divulged any specific plans for the DC Universe, but the former has been sharing the occasional image to social media, inevitably leading to speculation that the intention is to introduce the featured DC characters over the next few years.

It was generally assumed that this new DCU would include connected movies, TV shows and animated projects, but Gunn has now added a very interesting new format to the equation.

When asked if he and Safran are "planning to give more DC character tv shows that’ll add to the story for the DCEU," Gunn confirmed that this is indeed on the agenda, before revealing that video games will also be a part of this shared world.

Adding video games to the mix would be a first. While there have obviously been plenty of Marvel and DC-based games over the years, they've never been considered canon to their respective big-screen universes.

As for those character images, Gunn hasn't confirmed that they're the heroes and villains he's referring to here, but it might be telling that he has yet to spotlight anyone that has already appeared in a previous DCU movie/series.

What do you guys make of the prospect of a a series of canonical DCU-based video games? Be sure to drop us a comment down below.
