Tim Miller Reveals Original DEADPOOL 2 Plans, Including Copycat And The Thing Vs. Juggernaut

Terminator: Dark Fate director Tim Miller left Deadpool 2 over creative differences with Ryan Reynolds, but he's now revealed some of his original plans and, well, it sounds absolutely awesome...

Deadpool was a critical and commercial hit, so no one was surprised when Tim Miller signed up to direct the sequel. Unfortunately, creative differences led to him walking away from the project and he set his sights on the Terminator franchise instead. Now, thanks to The Playlist, we have new details on what the filmmaker originally had planned for the R-Rated sequel.

It was always the plan for Wade Wilson's relationship with the young Reggie to be a big part of the movie, but Miller wanted a "[comic accurate] Cable who was 6 feet, 7 inches." That doesn't exactly sound like the 5 feet, 10 inche Josh Brolin.

Vanessa would have also had a far more satisfying story arc and would not have been killed off within the first few minues. Miller planned to transform her into Copycat and would have delved into the love story between her and Wade in a far more in-depth and satisfying manner. Apparently, he "fought hard to have that in there," and tried to get Fox to keep that arc in the sequel to no avail.

Here's where things get really exciting, though.

Apparently, Miller received the green light from the studio to include Fantastic Four character The Thing. As a result, we would have seen the hero "throwing down with Juggernaut" in the final battle!

Honestly, this all sounds a million times better than what we ended up getting in Deadpool 2, and while that movie was still well-received, it's hard to escape the feeling it could have been better.

Ready for the MCU versions of the Fantastic Four. Ben Grimm has always been a favorite of mine and I look forward to seeing him interact with some familiar MCU faces!

I especially looking forward to seeing much more faithful versions of Silver Surfer, Galactus, the Shi'ar Empire, the Negative Zone, Annihilus, and Doctor Doom!

@Feralwookiee - Cant wait to see Galactus, but honestly, i have no idea how they will work him in for the big bad. The build up is one thing, but to defeat him is another. Cant go the Ultimate nullifier route...But in Feige i trust.
But Doom is a must. That would work for some get cinema (pun intended).

I was hoping she was going to become lady death and that would be the arc to connect Thanos as they both battle
For her love.

I don’t know what y’all are expecting out of a Deadpool movie. DP2 is a geek - the first one has more emotion maybe given the love story but the second one was still hilarious.

He also wanted negasonic teenage warhead to become evil and for the movie to be “less raunchy “ the right creative minds won

Wait which version of the Thing would this be? Fant4stic? The older films? A new version?

@Nightwing1015 - Fant4stic, as there is concept art for what the Fant4stic characters would've looked like in Deadpool 2

@Nightwing1015 - If it was anywhere close to as good as Colossus...

And there may have been Fant4stic concept art, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't have tried to separate themselves from that puke. Miller seems to have high standards stemming from the source material.

A more creative fight would've been Armor versus Juggernaut. I've always felt she would fit well in the DP universe.

@BlackBeltJones - I like Armor as a character, but the design of her armor was always god awful. It looks like some kind of old fashioned bulky deep-sea diving suit.
I think it's a big part of why she didn't click with people. Had her armor been better designed, maybe more like a Samurai armor or something, I think she would have been far more memorable.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 10/29/2019, 3:43 PM
@shadowspider9 - I actually like the look of it but I also see the benefit in making her armor able to take different shapes and or mimic the look of known famous historical armors like samurai armor.

Ehh, with regards to Cable, I'm really happy with what we got with Brolin, he did a great job as Cable and for me his Cable was the highlight of the movie. Just wish the movie itself was as good as the first one.

I did not like Deadpool 2, so of course Miller's plans sound really great but alas I also do not think Terminator Dark Fate looks like a well directed movie so who knows what the actual quality of a Miller-directed Deadpool 2 would have ended up being.

Definitely thought Brolin did great with Cable though seeing the thing in the film would've been pretty cool. Can't really say much on his plans for Vanessa in DP 2 off of a few sentences, but regardless, I thought using her as a substitute in a way for Mistress Death was pretty cool and definitely added more pathos to the film. I thought both DP films were great and on par with one another, so at the very least it's cool that we got two well done styles with it.

This sounds way better than the dreck that made up Deadpool 2. I personally disliked it - instead of mimicing the tone of the first it went into a full blown Superhero slapstick Comedy and the action scenes were deplorable. My Goodness Tim Millers version would have been epic.

What I find annoying is how these movies always portray Juggernaut as a mutant.
He's magically powered!
