DEADPOOL 3 Absent From Disney's Release Schedule, Suggesting A Delay Is Now Imminent

Highlighting its upcoming slate of movies during a recent earnings call, Disney may have confirmed Deadpool 3 will end up being delayed after failing to mention the highly anticipated R-Rated threequel...

With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes expected to last into next year, we've been expecting a Deadpool 3 delay for some time. While not confirmed, that's now looking increasingly likely following an earnings call held by Disney yesterday afternoon.

The studios touted its "Upcoming Theatrical Releases" from September 2023 through June 2024, but Deadpool 3 was notable for its absence. The likes of Snow White (March 22), Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (May 24), and Inside Out 2 (June 14) were all present, so why not this Marvel Studios threequel?

Well, those movies are thought to be quite a bit further into production than the Deadpool/Wolverine team-up ever was. While by no means a confirmed delay, Deadpool 3's absence strongly suggests Disney knows the movie meeting its current May 3 debut is doubtful.

The threequel has been scheduled for next November before being brought forward, so we'd imagine it will ultimately move back to the winter.

On the plus side, The Marvels remains dated for this year, suggesting there are no plans to delay that sequel from its current November 10 slot (even without the cast available to help promote it).

We'll see what happens but the sooner these strikes end, the better the odds are we'll see this threequel in theaters next May as planned. That's down to the studios doing the right thing, of course.

Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all also set to return in this threequel.

Emma Corrin is expected to play the evil Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely play a TVA agent named Paradox in the movie. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, and Ben Affleck, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen are among the many names rumoured to appear.

For now, Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.

How many more delays will there be when a lot of these out of work movie people just go out and move into other jobs and careers?

95% of background actors will have to find other jobs as their career becomes obsolete.

@DocSpock - That’s the studio’s plan. Actors have started selling their homes, like the studio wigs said they would. I don’t think they gonna win this one.

@PlusUltra -

Their problem is that they collectively overvalue themselves.

The writers want scenarios where they are guaranteed 5 jobs that are full time with benefits on a project where 3 people could easily do the job. That kind of math does not work out.

@DocSpock - David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery Inc., was paid $498,915,318 between 2018 and 2022. You [frick] delusional for thinking writers are the problem.

Yeah no shit lol
It was filmed during the writers strike and stopped maybe 3/4 the way through. There's going to be at least another 2 months resuming shooting and another month or so of reshoots for improv scenes.
Pre-production will take ages, it won't meet next year's release.
Same for Captain America 4. Pre-production and reshoots will take a while for that.

@BritishMonkey - You didn't factor in the unionization of VFX people. These productions are dead until otherwise.

@CaptainCheese - That too! Yes!
There is no way these films are coming out next year.

Wouldn't it be a real kick in the balls if the studios just said "[frick] it" and started continuing their projects with AI instead of using writers and actors?

The irony would be palpable.

David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery Inc., was paid $498,915,318 between 2018 and 2022.

Disney CEO Bob Iger. Walt Disney will pay Bob Iger about $27 million annually.

Kathleen Kennedy earns an estimated salary of $25 Million + Per Year.

Writers, low level actors and VFX artists are NOT the problem. Follow the money!

@CaptainCheese -

Well, frick you back.

Did I say writers were the whole problem? NO!!

The studio execs are being cost cutting pricks. The writers are making unrealistic demands in some regards. The (mostly) corrupt union leaders & their lawyers get their money & make a fortune no matter who wins.

These 3 different groups have trainwrecked the whole process. It's going to get way worse before it gets better.
