DEADPOOL 3 Absent From Disney's Release Schedule, Suggesting A Delay Is Now Imminent

With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes expected to last into next year, we've been expecting a Deadpool 3 delay for some time. While not confirmed, that's now looking increasingly likely following an earnings call held by Disney yesterday afternoon.

The studios touted its "Upcoming Theatrical Releases" from September 2023 through June 2024, but Deadpool 3 was notable for its absence. The likes of Snow White (March 22), Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (May 24), and Inside Out 2 (June 14) were all present, so why not this Marvel Studios threequel?

Well, those movies are thought to be quite a bit further into production than the Deadpool/Wolverine team-up ever was. While by no means a confirmed delay, Deadpool 3's absence strongly suggests Disney knows the movie meeting its current May 3 debut is doubtful.

The threequel has been scheduled for next November before being brought forward, so we'd imagine it will ultimately move back to the winter.

On the plus side, The Marvels remains dated for this year, suggesting there are no plans to delay that sequel from its current November 10 slot (even without the cast available to help promote it).

We'll see what happens but the sooner these strikes end, the better the odds are we'll see this threequel in theaters next May as planned. That's down to the studios doing the right thing, of course.

Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all also set to return in this threequel.

Emma Corrin is expected to play the evil Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely play a TVA agent named Paradox in the movie. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, and Ben Affleck, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen are among the many names rumoured to appear.

For now, Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
