DEADPOOL 3, A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE, And KNUCKLES All Expected To Get Super Bowl TV Spots This Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday is very nearly upon us, and we have news on which studios are set to release previews during the event and the movies and TV shows most likely to be highlighted. Read on for details...

With Taylor Swift expected to be in attendance, Sunday's Super Bowl LVIII will be one of the biggest yet for advertisers. The Kansas City Chiefs will battle the San Francisco 49ers, but for many of you, we know it will be what happens in those commercial breaks which is of the greatest interest.

According to Variety, the current expectation is that Disney will indeed share a first look at Deadpool 3 on Sunday night. The only Marvel Studios movie set for release in 2024, it makes sense to kick off its marketing campaign during one of the biggest sporting events of the year.

Inside Out 2 and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes are also expected to be highlighted by the House of Mouse.

Warner Bros., Sony, Netflix, and Amazon are all sitting out the event but Paramount+ will be bringing a first look at Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off KnucklesThe Tiger’s ApprenticeThe Family Stallone, and The Chi. Halo and Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning spots are also expected.

On the theatrical side, the trade expects previews for A Quiet Place: Day One, IF, and Bob Marley: One Love

Universal is keeping its offerings under wraps but may offer fans new looks at Wicked, The Fall Guy, Kung Fu Panda 4, and Twisters, the loose sequel to Twister

Super Bowl Sunday is always an exciting time for movie fans and it sounds like plenty of big reveals are heading our way this weekend. It's a little surprising Sony Pictures isn't bringing Madame Web to the Big Game, but that studio typically gives the event a miss (no great surprise when commercials start at $7 million each).

Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all confirmed to return in Deadpool 3.

Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. The trades have confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, and even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to make cameo appearances in this Multiversal adventure.

Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024. Check back here on Sunday for all the biggest trailers!

I'm not a fan of a quiet place day one. Premise wise, it's hard to justify the world not figuring out the sound weakness sooner when you directly see the confrontation. It's like how zombie apocalypse movies often skip over the actual end of civilization. Under normal circumstances, you'd end up with something like night of the living dead, where the threat was contained to a small town and taken care of pretty quickly.

@Origame - Its a movie about Aliens.
Origame
Origame - 2/6/2024, 9:12 AM
@HammerLegFoot - ...yeah, I get that.

My point still stands though. It's gonna be weird watching a whole movie where the world militaries don't notice the sound weakness, even by accident as they use their incredibly loud weaponry.

@Origame - that’s not how series starts off

For the first time in over 10 years, I’m sitting this Super Bowl out. Don’t care for either team, the commercials have gotten more lame over the years and you can watch the good ones online afterwards, the Taylor Swift focus makes the whole thing less appealing, no good half time show (there rarely is these days).

We are getting a ton of snow out here in Colorado. I’ll be up on the slopes instead. Far more interesting.
Vigor
Vigor - 2/6/2024, 8:59 AM
@mountainman - and I imagine with the game on, the slopes will be less busy. Plus when you need a rest, you'll be able to catch a few commercials or the game in the lodge

That's actually a really nice idea. Colorado is my dream place to live. That's probably my precisely what I'd be doing if I lived out there

@mountainman - I agree with you the commercials have gotten pretty lame. and the pre-game is ridiculously long and boring. Half-time is hit or miss.
mountainman
mountainman - 2/6/2024, 9:13 AM
@lazlodaytona - In the last 10 years, the only halftime shows i enjoyed were the Dre/Eminem/Snoop one and the Bruno Mars / Red Hot Chili Peppers one.

The rest have been pop music that doesn’t appeal to me.
mountainman
mountainman - 2/6/2024, 9:20 AM
@Vigor - Usually the morning of game day is a normal busy weekend day, but then by noon people clear out to drive home for the game. I typically on weekends get there early and leave early to beat traffic, but I’ll be staying until close at 4pm since those last few hours will have pretty empty slopes.

Fun fact - back in 2012, I was up in Durango, CO (smaller resort in SW CO) with some friends. We snowboarded that day then caught the game at a local restaurant / brewery. I still remember to this day what I was wearing, eating, drinking, who I was with, the game situation at half time when the trailer came on (Ravens were ahead of 49ers 21-6 - one of my friends was a 9ers fan and was so upset he was drinking himself silly), and even some of the random people around me from this moment 12 years ago specifically because of the significance of the first Avengers trailer being played for the first time. That shit unlocked some core memory for me and I’ll never forget it. Great day.

lazlodaytona - 2/6/2024, 9:21 AM
@mountainman - a while back PRINCE performed at the half. Never listened to his music before that night, but that performance was amazing and I started listening to his stuff the next day.
mountainman
mountainman - 2/6/2024, 9:37 AM
@lazlodaytona - That one might be my all time favorite halftime performance. I just didn’t list it here because it was 20 years ago. Was trying to stick to ones from the last 10 years. Another one from that era that was really good was Tom Petty. And of course the Creed one has to be acknowledged for the amazing memes it gave us.

Yeah, it'll be sheer and utter Disney desperation. I wouldn't be surprised if they spoil the reveal of other mutants also.

@MosquitoFarmer -
They can promote it, but it'll be interesting to see how it's compared to Endgame or Spider-man: NWH where they actively hid key characters.

The whole film does feel like desperation though. It's effectively Disney trying to do a Fox-verse version of No Way Home having seen the popularity of that film.
Vigor
Vigor - 2/6/2024, 11:10 AM
@Scarilian - the script of deadpool3 came to Disney and they approved it. Not the other way around. Don't forget it's the same team that did Deadpool 1 and 2.

And no way home is a disney/Sony multiverse film.
This is a disney/fox multiverse film.

So yes there will be cameos. There will be LOTS of cameos. It's literally crashing the foxmen world and the MCU world together during the multiverse phase.

I know being bear'ish on Disney is your whole schtick... but your comments come off desperate lol
Scarilian
Scarilian - 2/6/2024, 3:28 PM
@Vigor -
"the script of deadpool3 came to Disney and they approved it"

No:
• The script was rewritten in its entirety by Disney.
• This is not a pre-Disney script that they are adapting.
• This is them making a script for a film that they seized control over.
• It is also clear to have extreme levels of studio meddling including being partially rewritten after the strikes

If you think this is some relic from the Fox-Verse that's going to be about Deadpool and Wolverine having a fun romp then you are mistaken. This is a Disney rewrite heavy clusterfudge of shoving in the TVA, references to Phase 1-5, nostalgia bait after being inspired by NWH and trying to both set-up the multiverse while also soft-rebooting the universe.

"It's literally crashing the foxmen world and the MCU world together during the multiverse phase."

That's the potential plot for one of the future Avengers films that Deadpool 3 will slightly set-up, not the events of Deadpool 3.
Vigor
Vigor - 2/6/2024, 3:47 PM
@Scarilian - I'm not saying the script was sitting around somewhere. I'm saying disney did not remake the whole thing. This is the same team as Deadpool 1 and 2

Here's a quote from almost a year ago

:Don't worry about that, they've been very supportive with regard to that," Reese told Den of Geek. "Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe we'll hear at some point, 'Maybe not that joke.' But I think they've been incredibly supportive of what we're doing, because obviously we were doing it separate from them for a long time, and I think they've seen the success and they've had their own even greater success. So hopefully it'll be a marriage made in heaven. But we've definitely got their support, and that's a great thing to feel."
Scarilian
Scarilian - 2/6/2024, 8:26 PM
@Vigor -

The first film was $58m and made $782.6m around the time Phase 3 was starting.

The second film was $110m and made $785.8m at the height of Phase 3 with a re-released version (Once Upon a Deadpool) edited for younger audiences.

The third is looking to be well over $200m likely $250m and is releasing during the absolute worst time for Superhero films at a time when the MCU/Disney is collapsing doing a gimmick that we've already seen done with Doctor Strange 2 and Spider-man: NWH.

Even if Deadpool 3 performs the exact same as the previous two, it'd financially be considered an under-performance and would have made less money than either of the previous installments due to its inflated budget.

There's a high likelihood that Deadpool's success was attributed primarily to being relatively unique at the height of Superhero popularity. It is unclear whether it can stand on its own and we won't get the chance to discover that because they've shoved in a bunch of nostalgia bait.

"This is the same team as Deadpool 1 and 2"

I'm not sure if that's meant to fill people with confidence, lol.

The first film had some good comedy at the expense of the Superhero genre and the character arcs were neat, but the second is generally viewed as disappointing and even with an edited re-released version only just scrapped about the same financially despite a larger budget.

"Here's a quote from almost a year ago"

Probably a case of avoiding biting the hand that feeds you. I'd also say it's likely an outdated remark also as the nature of the script has shifted quite a bit since the writers strike.

Apparently decisions made internally have now shifted to altering Deadpool 3 to act as (or set-up) a soft-reboot of the MCU before a potential full reboot after Avengers 6/7 (Secret Wars/Avengers Forever)

Whomever thought that it'd be a great idea to make a sequel to "Twister" is going to lose their job. This is what is wrong with hollywood's lack of creativity. Heck, the first film really wasn't that good and did ok due to the sheer number of special effects in the film.

Rooting for the 49ers cuz i hate the f*cking Chiefs and whiny boy Mahomes and Kelce

@TheVisionary25 - I know the SB isn't for everyone. I'm a huge sports fan, been playing them all my life but as a life long Pat's fan I can't stand the chiefs... and the entire country except Missouri will be rooting for the 49ers... meaning the chiefs will win lol
blackandyellow
blackandyellow - 2/6/2024, 2:41 PM
@MotherGooseUPus - As a Patriots fan you should be rooting for the Chiefs for the same reason I am as a Pittsburgh fan. The Steelers and Pats are the only two teams with 6 SB wins. The 49ers and Cowboys both have 5, so I don't want another team getting a 6th SB win unless the Steelers win their 7th first!
MotherGooseUPus
MotherGooseUPus - 2/6/2024, 3:27 PM
@blackandyellow - you make a fair point... but also as a Pat's fan, i dont want the chiefs to be the latest team to go back-to-back SB wins. Last team to do that was the 03-04 Pat's. I also don't want to hear anymore about how the Chiefs are the new Pat's cuz they got 3 rings.... regardless... this is SB nobody wants either team to win or be in... i was rooting hard for the Lions

I’m interested in that first look for A Quiet Place:Day One…

It’s got an interesting cast and could be a nice spin-off/prequel for the franchise that expands the world.

Plus , it’s directed by Michael Sarnoski who made his feature directorial debut with Pig which I haven’t seen but have heard nothing but good things about.
