DEADPOOL 3: Ed Skrein Weighs In On Possible Ajax Return And Shares His Excitement For The Movie (Exclusive)

Ed Skrein cemented himself as one of the Marvel Universe's most evil villains in Deadpool, but could Ajax return to take aim at Wade Wilson and Wolverine in the upcoming threequel? Here's what he told us!

2016's Deadpool redefined the comic book genre to the point where Disney is now making an R-Rated Marvel Studios movie. That blockbuster's success was down to a lot of individuals, but no superhero is truly great without a formidable foe, and that's where Ed Skrein's scene-stealing Ajax came in.

Twisted, evil, and an absolute badass, the baddie pushed Wade Wilson to his limits but ultimately took a well-deserved bullet to the head. The character does return from the dead in the comic books and, hot off the heels of the news that Hugh Jackman will join Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3 as Wolverine, it's hard not to think about who those two will be teaming up against.

This week, we spoke with Skrein about his standout role in Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon. As Fuzz, the actor delivers one of the best performances of his career, and we can't recommend checking him out in that highly enough.

Is he hoping to play Ajax again in Deadpool 3, though?

"Listen, I’ve got all the comics where he comes back with the suit, the things that fly out of them, the teeth, and the eyes, and everything," the actor tells us in the video above. "I think he ends up getting strangled by Deadpool in the bottom of a river to really die."

"These things are…it was a privilege to be part of number one, dude. I would be so happy to leave it as what it is. It would be the happiest thing ever to just move on and I’d be super happy to go back. It’s all love and it’s all good. They’ve got a great team between Hugh, Ryan, and Shawn. They’ve got an incredible team. I’ll be there in the first week with my popcorn and I’ll just be there as a fan."

"Even now, I can see all my Deadpool comics and statues next to my Ninja Turtles and Mumm-Ras. Yeah, I’ve been collecting Deadpool and X-Men and Wolverine, specifically, since I was 10 years old," Skrein adds. "I’m a fan before anything. I wasn’t even thinking about it like I would be in it. When I saw that news, I was like, ‘That’s great! That’s really great for all of us.’"

As we're sure you'll agree after watching our exclusive interview, Ed is a humble guy and someone who clearly loves both comic books and this character. It would be great to see a revenge-driven Ajax return to take aim at Deadpool and Wolverine, though only time will tell how the movie takes shape.

Be sure to watch our conversation above to hear more from Ed about Deadpool's legacy and the work he put into creating Fuzz, and check back here on Tuesday for the full interview.

Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon arrives in theaters, on Digital and on Demand on September 30, 2022.

I love his good natured fan mentality towards the new team up in Deadpool 3.

"That's really great for all of us!"

I think most of those losing their collective heads over Hugh's return need to just appreciate we're getting to see what awesomeness these two can really come up with together! And Hugh Jackman was great in REAL STEEL! The best "lovable jerk D-Bag" role he had played since the first X-men film

@TheWalkingCuban - I think Deadpool 2 sucked for the most part. Still love DP1 though.

@TheWalkingCuban - I think 1 is the better movie overall but I really loved Cable and Domino in part 2 so I enjoyed it more.

As much as I like both Deadpool movies, their weakest parts are the villains. No need to bring him back.

I want Cable back, I think him interacting with Deadpool and Wolverine would be much better. I also think the time travel belt will be the catalyst for this movie, if they really want to mess around they can even say that Deadpool screwing with the timeline is what created the mcu lol

@Ha1frican -
Apparently the actor confirmed Cable is coming back.

Anytime someone starts with the word listen, you need to listen. Example, listen son, I’ll give you fo’ cent each for them vanilla wafers. See? Now pay up. “Dude we’re just tailgating, it’s not a sale” “I’ll take some ribs too, dry rub, and street corn” “…alright man $12”

Na, he is not coming back. Sorry, Ed.
I would have love if they had used some uniform in his character based in the comics, but knowing how Fox treated the Deadpool movies cutting budget days before shooting I imagine it wouldn't be possible.

I’m still hoping for Stryfe as the villain for part 3 in a time traveling X-Force adventure. I know it’s a long shot, but it would be fun!
