Deadpool 3, along with numerous other big and small screen projects, paused production today due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which means we probably won't see any new set photos for a while.
Rumors are still doing the rounds, however, and we have a couple of very interesting details to share courtesy of scooper @CanWeGetToast.
Possible spoilers follow.
We've already heard that multiple Variants of Wade Wilson are set to appear in the Marvel Studios threeuel, and it seems Dogpool: The Merc with a Bark will be among them!
As the name suggests, Dogpool is a canine take on the Merc with a Mouth who was introduced in Prelude to Deadpool Corps #3 back in 2010. Once a regular pooch named Wilson, he was used as an animal test subject for Mascara X, before gaining regenerative abilities and joining the circus as the "Death Defying Hound." Earth-616's Deadpool eventually showed up and recruited him for the Deadpool Corps.
A separate report is claiming that Deadpool 3 will feature a massive one-on-one battle between The Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Jean Grey (Famke Janssen). This isn't the first time we've heard that these characters are expected to appear, but it's important to keep in mind that very little has been confirmed when it comes to this movie.
If even half of the rumors are accurate, this movie is going to be quite a wild ride.
Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps.
We recently learned that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra.
Plot details also remain a mystery for now, but Wade and Wolvie are expected to find themselves (trapped?) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A recent rumor claimed that Loki's TVA, including Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Miss Minutes, will be involved. We have also been led to believe that Wade's MCU debut will be far more integral to Phase 5 and beyond than we first realized.
Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3, which is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
