DEADPOOL 3 Trailer Will Reportedly Debut During The Super Bowl On February 11

This isn't the first time we've heard this, but a reliable source is claiming to have confirmed that the first trailer for Deadpool 3 will indeed debut during the Super Bowl next month...

Fans were hoping that we might get a glimpse of some footage from Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3 before the New Year, and while that obviously didn't happen, we may know when to expect the first teaser (or possibly even full trailer) for the Merc With a Mouth's MCU debut.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, the first teaser for Deadpool 3 - sorry, "Untitled Deadpool Movie" - will indeed be released during Super Bowl LVIII exactly one month from now on February 11.

Most studios unveil trailers for their upcoming tentpole releases during the event, so this wouldn't exactly be a massive surprise, but if this is accurate, we will likely get official confirmation (along with a little preview, hopefully) over the next few weeks.

We have no idea what to expect from this first look at the movie, but knowing star Ryan Reynolds - who recently accepted his Emmy Award for Welcome To Wrexham in-costume as Deadpool - it's going to be far from a standard movie trailer!

Cameos that have reportedly been lined up include several X-Men characters (Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey among them), and possibly even Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch as different Variants of Gambit. A recent rumor claimed that Liev Schreiber is also set to reprise his X-Men Origins: Wolverine role as Victor Creed.

Variants of the Merc With a Mouth are also expected to appear, including Dogpool (since confirmed), Kidpool, Lady Deadpool, and more.

The one major return that had been confirmed by the trades is Jennifer Garner as Elektra, but the Alias alum declined to confirm anything in a recent interview.

Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps (the former is rumored to play Cassandra Nova, however).

A rumored synopsis for the movie reads: "After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis, Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman.But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement," the synopsis continues. "He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival, but ultimately, their legacy."

Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.

Deadpool sucks as a character and a movie franchise. Can't believe this the only MCU movie we getting this year.

Firstly.. no shit... it's the superbowl and their biggest chance for an audience.

Endgame managed to hide its massive team-up scene. Spider-man: NWH managed to hide Tobey and Andrew. Let's see if Deadpool 3 manages to hide any of its big moments.

Would not be surprised if they release a PG rated cut for cinemas because they probably won't expect the film to perform well with the R-Rating.

@Scarilian - this is a good point. I always believed and said it will become pg as they cant afford their main multiverse movie to be r.

Your idea of having a pg cut is logical

This will either get me super hyped or just let me down like most MCU stuff lately
Scarilian

@MotherGooseUPus -
Probably the latter.

At its core going into this, you know at best its going to be somewhat nostalgic and maybe a few of the characters will feel vaguely consistent with what they did prior.

It's also likely to be less funny than the previous installments because while the previous writers are credited, the primary writers are Zeb Wells (She-Hulk, The Marvels) and Ryan Reynolds was prevented adlibbing.

In addition, when every MCU property does not take itself seriously and pokes fun of itself or descends into parody (Thor: Love and Thunder) and fourth wall breaking (She-Hulk) then nothing Deadpool 3 can do will be original here. Especially when the only things he can mock is how utterly shit Phase 4/5 has been.

@Scarilian - Ryan couldn't adlib because of the writers strike, but then the actors strike happened. When both strikes were over they resumed shooting and Ryan had full freedom to add whatever he wanted.
Scarilian

@ObserverIO -
The writers strike began in May 2nd while the actors strike began July 14th - they were filming during this.

They probably did not have time to reshoots when they restarted because by then the release date had been pushed forward from November to May/July.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 1/12/2024, 11:51 AM
@Scarilian - I'm pretty sure they would have allowed some time for reshoots on the most important event movie next year. Especially one that they know thrives on a certain style and energy.

This is a very important film. Probably next years Barbie/Top Gun Maverick/Spider-Man: No Way Home. It's also the only MCU film coming out next year. If they don't have everything they need atm they will make the time to shoot whatever they do need before release.

They know that this is important. They all know. Iger, Feige, Reynolds. They know as well as if not better than we do that this film needs to be prefect and they will allot whatever time and money they need to to make this movie everything it should be.

@ObserverIO -
"This is a very important film."

It's a fan wank style nostalgic cash grab that they hope they can use to bounce off into their failed multiverse saga - which (Leeching off NWH) is a celebration of everything Disney did not contribute to, even more so considering every prior film was made by Fox instead. It's only important because Disney have [frick]ed up so hard that its the only MCU film they have in 2024 and are now reliant on the film making an insane amount to ensure they end 2024 in profit.

It may end up being financially successful, but I also would not be surprised if it performs similar to GotG3 where it falls in line with the previous two installments around the $700m-$800m position.

Given the budget is like $200m-$300m compared to Deadpool ($58m) and Deadpool 2 ($110m) anything less than around $800m for Deadpool 3 would be a complete disaster, earning less profit than either of the previous films.

I think it would be more interesting to see what happens if Deadpool 3 ends up being a flop. While it has a lack of competition if it keeps the R-rating it's going to exclude a majority of its audience.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 1/13/2024, 9:05 AM
@Scarilian - Exactly. A very important film for all the reasons you've just essayed. But it will make more money than $800m.

NWH can be described in exactly the same way and that made money too.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 1/13/2024, 9:07 AM
* except for the R-rating, but I think the last two Deadpools, Joker and shows like The Boys have proved that to be an asset rather than a handicap. People are tired of cartoons. Swearing puts them at ease more.

People expected GotG3 to make $1bn+

I'm not claiming it to be impossible, I just think people might be over-expecting what it could do. Let alone the idea that people think its a certainty.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 1/13/2024, 4:47 PM
@Scarilian - Yeah, that is a little worrying. NWH was before people really talked about superhero fatigue.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 1/15/2024, 5:37 PM
@ObserverIO -
I feel it also benefited from being the first to use the multiverse in such a way. There's an underlying concern of diminishing returns. Especially when Flash did it and got no buzz from it. Simply bringing back characters is not enough.

SPOILERS:
I also think nostalgia for Spider-man is naturally stronger due to more consistent and well received films than nostalgia for the Fox-Verse which has been a lot more hit and miss. Will people really remember X-Men (2000) or care that Toad was a thing that happened? Will they be screaming in the cinema when Toad shows up? I just don't see the same connection happening and the same buzz of excitement.

ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 1/16/2024, 4:20 AM
@Scarilian - Sure but you could say the same about Electro or the Lizard. I remember when they announced Electro we were all like 'Kevin Feige has lost his mind, this has to be an April Fools'.

The Flash movie failed because it was DCEU. Not even Michael Keaton's Batman could have saved it. Even Aquaman's flopping right now and the first one made a billion.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 1/18/2024, 8:12 AM
@ObserverIO -
True, but Electro was effectively the primary villain of a prior film so at least was recognizable for audiences. Lizard felt like a late addition, but was also a primary villain of a prior film.

I imagine the goal of Deadpool 3 is that these characters are intentionally the minor villains as a joke because of how forgettable or how they were generally handled poorly - but even then, it's still minor villains most people would forget.

"The Flash movie failed because it was DCEU"

It failed for a lot of reasons. If it's solely due to being the DCEU then Deadpool 3 could flop because it's the MCU and Ant-Man 3 and The Marvels were box office bombs, the only exception to the box office bombs this year was Guardians of the Galaxy 3 which also under performed only just making the same level as the previous 2 films (Earning less profit than the previous two due to higher budget)
