DEADPOOL 3 Unlikely To Meet Its Planned Release Date Despite WGA Strike Nearing Its End

While the WGA strike appears to be nearly over, SAG-AFTRA members remain on the picket lines. As a result, the threequel meeting its planned release date is looking increasingly unlikely. Check it out...

While the WGA strike is expected to end any day now, it's important to remember that actors remain on the picket line. We have no idea how close they are to reaching an agreement with studios, and while writers will soon be able to pen scripts again, there will still be no one to read those lines!

Unfortunately, that doesn't bode well for a number of movies and TV shows heading our way next year, including May's Deadpool 3

The threequel was halfway through shooting when the strike began so the clock is very much ticking, especially as we'd guess reshoots will be needed once the first cut is completed (Marvel Studios frequently reshapes its blockbusters during post-production so additional photography is a crucial part of the creative process).

According to Deadline, they've heard from an insider who believes next year's release calendar is simply "not real," meaning Deadpool 3 - and any other movie which hasn't finished production - is unlikely to be released as planned.

On the plus side, it's said that "studios can start meeting with candidates and putting offers out on open writing assignments (OWAs) on films — e.g. the new DC’s Batman: The Brave and the Bold, which has Andy Muschietti set as director."

Even with scripts ready when actors return to work, that doesn't necessarily mean cameras can begin rolling as they'll have prior commitments and the usual pre-production requirements (in the case of Superman: Legacy star David Corenswet, for example, we'd bet on him not even having seen his costume yet).

Deadpool 3 will be a huge part of the Multiverse Saga and is rumoured to feature the Merc with the Mouth and Wolverine rounding up a plethora of alternate reality heroes so the TVA can rebuild a new world when Kang's Multiversal war begins.

Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all set to return in this threequel.

Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Liev Schreiber, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen among the many names rumoured to appear.

Deadpool 3 is currently set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.

I still think WB and Gunn are going to come up with a creative excuse for Muschietti to leave Brave and the Bold. They announced he would be making the movie the week The Flash hit theaters. It felt like a marketing stunt. Now that The Flash has been released… and bombed, I think the guy’s days on the BATB are numbered.

@santoanderson -

i'm of the opposite mind. i think BATB is his payment for taking The Flash on the chin. he didn't develop that movie and it was clear he was walking into a cluster[frick] by the time he signed on. i think they appreciated him stewarding that mess across the finish line, and he's been a good soldier for WB with those IT movies too.

@santoanderson - I mean considering James Gunn said one of his favorite comic book movies of the year is The Flash, i think there is a good chance he'll keep him around.

So they are ending the strike. They will get the money they want. Where will it come from? Does this mean we are gonna pay more at the ticket booths? More for streaming? I don't see myself paying more money for the mediocre writing we have been getting in recent years.

OFF TOPIC but bored :)

How Strong is the Hulk?

The Hulk BROKE M.O.D.O.K.'S ADAMANTIUM ARMOR. The Hulk shatters the armor and M.O.D.O.K. is forced to flee.

George Tarelton once worked for A.I.M on experiments to unlock his mental potential. After a series of experiments, he finally achieved his goal. However, accomplishing this mad feat transformed him into a giant floating cyborg head. From there, he became known as the villain M.O.D.O.K. Capable of firing psychic energy blasts, and imbued with a massive intellect, M.O.D.O.K. is a fearsome being; he’s also pretty unpleasant to even look at.

Anyway, in The Incredible Hulk #167, M.O.D.O.K. is off musing in his laboratory that in order for him to eventually fulfill his goals of world domination or whatever, he’s going to have to beat everyone who might oppose him. Having faced the Hulk before, M.O.D.O.K. knows that their paths will likely cross again. With that in mind, he decides to take a preemptive strike. M.O.D.O.K. dons a mountainous suit of armor that’s an alloy made from adamantium and steel.

By all accounts, the armor should be resistant to all physical forms of attack. He also plans to capture Betty, Bruce’s love interest. When M.O.D.O.K. is about to capture Betty, the Hulk stops him. Their fight is explosive but concludes when the Hulk shatters the armor and M.O.D.O.K. is forced to flee.

@ReverseFlasher - Scorsese who? I didn't enjoy Shutter Island.

@AllsGood - also OT:

Scorsese says he wishes he didnt direct Shutter Island, and says he o ly did it because he felt “encouraged to” after the Departed ….

I loved Shutter Island, even despite guessing the twist early on.

@AllsGood - just admit you're a normie who doesn't understand good cinema. The same clown who bashed Oppenheimer and praised Barbie lmao

@bobevanz - Not just me than why do ALL of Martin Scorsese movies make very small box office numbers? As great as some of Scorsese movies are his movies would force Movie Studios and Movie Theaters to file bankruptcy and close.

That's not saving Cinema.

Yeah, no shit lol
Halfway done, a ton of reshoots needing to be done which will take a long while, and then about a year in post, there's no way it's coming out next year. Same with Cap 4.

@BritishMonkey - Cap 4 has already wrapped shooting and has been in post production for quite a while.
It is very likely that it will be taking Deadpool 3's release date.

@BritishMonkey - Cap 4 has wrapped filming and therefore could release in summer 2024 as originally planned.

They were apparently halfway through the shoot when the SAG went on strike. Me thinks Brave New World moves back to first weekend of May and Deadpool 3 gets the last weekend of July release. Thunderbolts can still make it to Xmas 2024 if they start shooting before the end of the year or even early 2024.

@WakandanQueen - for some reason I thought Thunderbolts already finished shooting. Guess it makes more sense they haven't started with that December release

Well they still have to vote today, I hope it's a majority no. Like wtf will the suits do? Sell their companies and close up shop? Hahaha
