DEADPOOL 3 Writers Suggest Everyone & Everything In The MCU Is "Fair Game To Poke Fun At"

Deadpool 3 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were asked about their script for the threequel in a new interview, and the pair promised that nothing in The MCU is off limits for the Merc With a Mouth.

Deadpool 3 will introduce Ryan Reynolds' Merc With a Mouth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been discussing their script during a recent round of interviews.

Though the scribes have been careful not to spill any specific story details, they have given fans a slightly better idea of what to expect from Wade Wilson's MCU debut. Reese recently described the threequel as a "fish-out-of-water story" that will "drop a lunatic into a very sane world," and he's now suggested that nothing is off limits for ol' Deadpool to "poke fun at."

"How many movies have they given us? 25? 26? 28? Something like that," Reese said of the MCU while chatting to the Post Credits Podcast. "We have a treasure trove of things to poke fun at now, and Deadpool's an equal [opportunist], so everyone's fair game."

The writer also admitted that they have thought about certain character interactions, and which specific heroes and/or villains Wade would be likely to either get along with or despise being around!

"Look, I do think we do obviously sit in our head and imagine Deadpool having a conversation with character ‘X,’ character ‘Y,’ character ‘C,’ because right there, you just go, ‘Is that funny or isn’t it?’ And the answer is very often, ‘Yes.’"

Right now, all really know about Deadpool 3 is that it's going to be directed by Shawn Levy and make full use of an R-rating. In a seperate interview from earlier this month, Reese assured fans that the studio is fully on board with the movie embracing the more adult classification.

“Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe we’ll hear at some point, ‘Maybe not that joke.’ But I think they’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing, because obviously we were doing it separate from them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen the success and they’ve had their own even greater success. So hopefully it’ll be a marriage made in heaven. But we’ve definitely got their support, and that’s a great thing to feel.”

The still untitled Deadpool threequel doesn't have a release date yet.

I thought the first two Deadpool movies were good. Probably the most source accurate character depiction fox has ever done. Looking at colossus and juggernaut too. I really respect that you know. So I feel the Deadpool movies deserve some credit just for that alone.

But I think deadpool3 will be a riot. Keep the same formula, add the Feige oversight, and give him the MCU sandbox to play in. It's a match made in heaven. But his story has to matter. He can't just be there for laughs. I want to see everlasting relationships that persist after this movie. An obvious pairing is Deadpool and spiderman

@Vigor - It would be so cool to see, especially the 4th wall immunity to Strange's spell.

@The1st - that spell only worked on those who knew who spiderman was. Deadpool never met Peter Parker (because deadpool is from a different universe) so the spell bypasses him

I kinda wanna see the third movie to be an adaptation of Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe, but with the Fox characters only.

If he interacts with actual MCU stuff though, that'll be fun as well.

Will they make fun of the obvious pandering ?
Or does that exclude ''everyone and everything''.

So excited to see what they come up with! I really hope they make good use of a solid MCU character for a large cameo. Not to take away the spotlight from Wade, but just to hammer home that he's in the MCU now. I think we've all been waiting for this forever, so might as well make good use of what they now have access to.

So it's inevitable he's going to ask Ant Man why he didn't shrink into Thanos..

.. and if the reason Hulk is so angry is because his pants don't stretch.

Taika already beat them to the punch about Thor's hammer.

Here's my pitch: during the credits, you have one side of the screen just be Deadpool recreating as many MCU meme gifs as possible.

Whatever. Just Reynolds in Deadpool makeup, wearing the costumes of these characters on a green screen doing the dumb lines and then making jokes about them.

Maybe even release it before the movie on Youtube. It'd be a temporary internet sensation, and lots of free marketing from jerk-offs like me.

The first Deadpool was great. The second already felt like the concept had reached its limits. Can't say I'm particularly excited about this.
