At this point, it's not exactly giving anything away to note that Marvel Studios' Deadpool and Wolverine is going to feature a lot of cameos.
Some have already been confirmed in the trailers, others by the trades, and even with all the rumors doing the rounds online, there are almost certainly going to be a few surprises kept under wraps until audiences get to see the movie for themselves this summer.
Very early on in production, we heard whispers that a certain MCU actor might put in an appearance - but not as the character he played in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, a reliable source claims to have confirmed their involvement.
Possible spoilers follow.
According to MTTSH, Captain America actor Chris Evans will appear in the threequel as his take Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, who he played in the 2005 Fantastic Four movie and its sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer. Whether his cast mates - Ioan Gruffudd (Reed Richards), Jessica Alba (Sue Storm), and Michael Chiklis (The Thing) - also show up remains to be seen, but we wouldn't be at all surprised.
There are concerns that D&W is shaping up to be too much of a cameo-fest, but based on what we've heard, most of these characters will only appear very briefly as the Merc With a Mouth a Logan journey to various different realities - although Dafne Keen's X-23 and Channing Tatum's Gambit are rumoured to have slightly more substantial roles.

Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), who will play a TV agent and Cassandra Nova (not confirmed).
A recent synopsis for the movie reads: "After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis, Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman. But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement. He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival, but ultimately, their legacy."
Shawn Levy directs Deadpool and Wolverine from a script by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.
The movie is set to open in U.S. & Canadian theaters on July 26, and will be available in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD and premium screens everywhere.
