DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE Trailer Reportedly Smashed Record For Most-Viewed Of ALL TIME In 24 Hour Period

We knew the Merc With a Mouth was popular, but didn't expect the first trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine to rack up this many views in just 24 hours...

Maybe Wade Wilson really is Marvel Jesus!

The first trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine (we still think they're gonna have some fun with that title when the marketing push kicks in) was released online during the Super Bowl on Sunday, and proved to be very popular - like, most-viewed trailer of all time popular.

According to Disney, the red band teaser broke global records by scoring 365 million views in 24 hours, officially making it the most-viewed movie trailer ever.

Ryan Reynolds' Merc With a Mouth joining forces with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is obviously a huge draw, as is Deadpool being introduced to the MCU, but did anyone expect this trailer to top first looks at the likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Endgame, for example?

Quite a few cameos have been lined up for Deadpool 3, including several other X-Men characters (Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey among them), and possibly even Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch as different Variants of Gambit.

A recent rumor claimed that Liev Schreiber is also set to reprise his X-Men Origins: Wolverine role as Victor Creed (that appeared to be Tyler Mane in the recent set photos). Variants of the Merc With a Mouth are also rumored to appear, including Dogpool (since confirmed), Kidpool, Lady Deadpool, and more.

The one major return that had been confirmed by the trades is Jennifer Garner as Elektra, but the Alias alum declined to confirm anything in a recent interview.

Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps.

A recent synopsis for the movie reads: "After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis, Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman. But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement," the synopsis continues. "He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival, but ultimately, their legacy."

Shawn Levy directs DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.

Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy and Lauren Shuler Donner produce with Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg and Jonathon Komack Martin serving as executive producers.

DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE is written by Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy.

Marvel Studios’ DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE opens in U.S. & Canadian movie theaters on July 26, and will be available in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD and premium screens everywhere.

Interesting.

@TheNewYorker - no it’s not. Every Avengers or Spider-Man movie sets a new “Most Viewed” record. I guess this is Deadpool’s next go round as the new record holder.

@WruceBayne - it is interesting in comparison to the last few trailers/movies we have got. Funny how they break records when they make movies about characters the audience actually loves.

@Shivermetimbers - what I’m saying is that there’s always a new record, the only thing they change is the timeframe. Most viewed trailer in a 24 hour period.
Most viewed trailer watched on a weekend.
Most viewed trailer watched on a Wednesday during a winter month. I get it, it’s marketing.

@WruceBayne - that's not what this post was all about. It wasn't most viewed to compared others 24h run, it broke the record for most viewed trailer ever even compared other trailers whole run lol.

WruceBayne - 2/20/2024, 11:14 PM
@RegularPoochie - this trailer beat the last two Avengers trailer and all 3 Spider-Man trailers whole run in 24 hours? Yeah, I don’t think that’s accurate.

@WruceBayne - yeah not here to argue, it's just pointless and stupid. I just think they gather data of views from others also who has their permission to it or something, i don't know.

Deadpool & Wolverine and Daredevil Born Again are MCU last chance to be back on top

If these 2 flop

It's over

@WakandaTech - It was some time ago now that we heard that Iger and Feige were making moves to righten the ship. Every sensible person pointed out that it would take some time before we saw the fruits of these labors.

We knew that The Marvels would be the last movie to come out unaffected by the changes.
Deadpool and Wolverine will be the first movie after efforts have been made to return Marvel to it's former glory. It's the first movie that was in production post-changes and Daredevil is really the first major TV production. This is where we will see the changes.

People keep asking if Marvel are back. Judging by the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer...

@Nomis929 - Cos it was only a teaser not a full trailer? Hasn't been enough time since filming ended for a full impact trailer but as early teasers go it was well above average at minimum.

@Nomis929 - Yeah it wasn't amazing but it does look like it's going in the right direction quality wise.

But everything would look promising if you compare it to the recent efforts.

Social media. im guna have to go "dark" like 2months in advance and be careful what websites and social media i go on etc.... its too bad. Or on the front of a video tape.

vectorsigma
vectorsigma - 2/13/2024, 7:49 PM
@Urubrodi - lol, we were just wondering about these numbers a while back.

Let's see how this movie will fare against the suprrhero fatigue hypothesis. It is one thing to be trendy like this, and another thing for it to be a good movie. We have been victims of a good mcu trailer before, only to be disappointed in the final product.

And even IF this becomes successful (or just mildly given the obvious huge budget), will Marvel be able to follow up with the mediocre sounding Cap4 and Thunderbolts? Add Agatha and Ironheart too.

Too bad a lot of people are gonna be disappointed in it when the generic mad max-looking guy in a metal mask holding an every day rifle is not the all-powerful, all-knowing, super important greatest Marvel villain of all time Doctor Doom...I know right, crazy

@Spidey91 - The YouTube rumor mill is already setting people up for disappointment with expectations. No, that wasn’t Doom. No, your favorite characters from the Loki show will not be in this. No, the plot points for. Secret Wars 2015 issue 5 will not play into the plot.

It’s so annoying. This movie should have some cameos. It will tie into the overall MCU, but these professional speculators just get people hyped up about rumors and destined to be dissapointed.

ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 2/13/2024, 2:17 PM
@Spidey91 - Not for nothing, but there may actually be a Julian McMahon or Toby Kebbel Doctor Doom in this, since it is all about the Fox Marvel timelines and Fox had 3 movies with Doctor Doom in them. That guy wearing a metallic mask, hood and cloak and green tunic.... miiiiight just be one of those aforementioned actors from the Fox FF timelines that have been sent to the Void. Which is after all, what the movie seems to be about.
mountainman
mountainman - 2/13/2024, 2:47 PM
@HammerLegFoot - I think it’ll have more multiverse cameos than that one did, but yeah this hype machine is bad for audiences.

I don’t watch any of that stuff but a lot of people do and I think those channels hurt the genre more than they help.
