DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE: Rumored New Details Emerge About Cassandra Nova And An Intriguing Multiverse Twist

Rumoured new details about Deadpool & Wolverine have found their way online regarding Cassandra Nova's role in the story. It also sounds like Marvel Studios is adding a Jonathan Hickman idea to the MCU...

Much of Deadpool & Wolverine remains shrouded in secrecy, though we expect Emma Corrin's Cassandra Nova to be the threequel's big bad. We don't know whether she hails from the X-Men Universe or is among those trapped in The Void; either way, it appears Professor X's twin will be a formidable threat.

Scooper @Cryptic4KQual has shared some new details about Cassandra today, including the fact she's "faithful and true" to the comic books.

Apparently, Nova is "evil and twisted [and] a serious nutcase of a villain." They add that Cassandra "has no [regard] for life and is a very formidable adversary." The leaker later says Magneto's helmet is at one point mentioned as a means to fight her telepathic abilities. Unfortunately, "she already got to it."

Daniel Richtman has also shared some intriguing details about Deadpool & Wolverine, explaining that the movie introduces a new concept to the MCU where there's one specific being in every universe and, without them, their respective reality will die.

This should be a familiar concept to comic book fans as it's an idea Jonathan Hickman introduced when he brought back Molecule Man. The Beyonders created him as a singularity across every reality, giving the former villain the function of a "bomb" that would destroy his respective universe if he were to die.

Essentially, Molecule Man became the default origin of Incurisons, with Doctor Doom later collecting his Variants to use as a weapon against The Beyonders. Who will take on this role in the MCU? Wolverine, Deadpool, or someone else? We'll have to wait and see.

In the comics, Cassandra is a "Mummudrai," a spirit that's considered the equal and opposite of a person in Shi'ar culture. However, given Charles Xavier's incredibly powerful latent mutant powers, his Mummudrai took on a physical form in the womb as his "twin."

However, the baby Charles instinctively recognised her as a threat and the ensuing battle saw his and Cassandra's mother miscarry the X-Men leader's sister.

It was later revealed she'd survived as a mass of cells in a sewer wall (seriously), managing to build a body for herself while planning the ultimate revenge on Charles. That included taking his place and the murder of 16 million mutants by unleashing giant Sentinels on the nation of Genosha.

Shawn Levy directs Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. The movie is written by Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy.

The trades have confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum, Blake Lively and, as we mentioned above, even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to make an appearance.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26.

That certainly sounds like Cassandra Nova alright so that’s cool!!.

I can easily see us getting a comedic recreation of this scene honestly in the movie as a way to explain to us who she is (if they go with the Xavier twin angle)….

Given the multiverse though , I can see her possibly being an evil female variant of Charles.

Anyway , interested to see Emma Corrin in the role since I personally always imagined the character to be older but she’s a good actress so i hope she does well!!.

Introducing Cassandra Nova and all the FoxMen in the MCU before the proper X-Men from the main timeline is a huge mistake imo, I'll never understand why they are doing this, just for pure nostalgic bait like they did it in NWH and MoM, but having introduced the main timeline X-Men first would have helped to sell a lot of tickets too, this is just lazy.

Same thing with Reed Richards, when the new FF are introduced people who watched MoM will ask where is Krasinski, and "multiverse" won't explain why everybody else in that timeline looked exactly like in the main timeline except for Reed (and, I guess, Xavier).

Deadpool comes from the Foxmen timeline, ok, but before bringing him to the MCU and show him with all the other Foxmen in an MCU movie, Marvel Studios should have introduced the main timeline X-Men first, then explain the Foxmen are just variants like Garfield and Maguire in NWH.

Still nostalgic bait, but at least most people would know that Jackman is not the main timeline Wolverine, now good luck to the actor that has to replace him in the future, it would have been like bringing Maguire back for a few MCU movies before introducing Holland's Spidey, a huge mistake imo.

And that's if they are not so lazy that they just don't look for new actors for the main timeline X-Men, or if they don't just decide that there will be no X-Men in the main timeline and that they go full crossover with all the Foxmen actors brought back until the end of the multiverse saga, with all of them being old af.

I lost a lot of interest in the new Marvel movies for things like these (plus the bad writing and the many other bad choices made by Feige and company).

They had something almost perfect up until Endgame, and they are just ruining it.

@SethBullock - I can't wait to see Cassandra Nova, she was so threatening in Morrison's New X-Men, probably one of my favourite modern arcs. Too bad she'll probably die in the end.

Cassandra Nova in the comics was such a ridiculous contrived villain. I can’t imagine they will improve her in the movies.

Kind of wish this just would have been a more straightforward Deadpool movie with no multiverse mucking it up.

So a scooper is claiming that a villain is an evil, twisted nutcase with no regard for human life. Incredible scoop there that needs to be shared.

bkmeijer1 - 3/18/2024, 8:30 AM
@TheFinestSmack - most scoops are like that. No inside info needed to make an educated guess like that. It sounds very plausible, but vague enough to deny
TheFinestSmack
TheFinestSmack - 3/18/2024, 9:34 AM
@bkmeijer1 - Right? The scoopers release statements that are either guesses of obvious outcomes, or guesses that have a 50/50 chance of being right, as long as they gain attention. Like, "Silver Surfer is going to be female!" 50/50 chance there...but it got a ton of attention. I have a scoop. Silver Surfer will probably ride a surf board.

bkmeijer1 - 3/18/2024, 10:10 AM
@TheFinestSmack - exactly. My scoop is we won't see Korvac in the next Avengers movie. But by the time Avengers 5 is released and he is in it, I can always say that plans have changed since this scoop

"Doctor Doom later collected his Variants to use as a weapon against The Beyonders. Who will take on this role in the MCU?"

Wanda. Don't remember who came up with it on here, but I'm sold on the idea of Molecule Man being replaced by Wanda as the bomb, and Loki as the Battleworld battery.

Plot prediction: Wolverine hates himself and blames himself for the lack of Fox heroes, finds out there is a multiverse a goes on a mission to kill Wolverine variants, knowing there are others. TVA sends Deadpool on a mission to kill Jackman wolvie who will be informed that he is the "singularity". After they team up, destroy variants, wolverine will decide to make the sacrifice, Deadpool will make the kill and use TVA tech to escape to the new MCU leading into secret wars. Do you guys think the main battle will be Deadpool & Wolverine against Cassandra Nova? or more like the whole Fox-Universe cast, Deadpool, Wolverine + Main X-Men, against her? ¿?
