Disney Officially Changes DEADPOOL 3's Title To "Untitled Deadpool Movie" For Marketing Distribution

Director Shawn Levy recently indicated that Deadpool 3 would not be the final title of his upcoming MCU threequel, and Disney is now officially marketing the film as "Untitled Deadpool Movie."

We've been referring to The Merc With a Mouth's third big-screen outing as Deadpool 3 ever since the movie was announced, but director Shawn Levy confirmed that this would not be the film's final title during an interview earlier this year.

“No, there’s no title yet. I sometimes refer to it as Deadpool vs Wolverine or Deadpool and Wolverine or Deadpool 3 With Wolvie — we’ve got a few titles we’ve been bandying about, but boy, it’s a tough one.”

Now, Disney has officially logged the MCU-set threequel as "Untitled Deadpool Movie" for marketing distribution purposes.

Does this suggest that a title announcement is imminent?

The movie recently resumed shooting after a lengthy hiatus due to the strikes, and with star Ryan Reynolds doing his best to discourage leaks and stay ahead of the paparazzi, there's a chance an official poster or maybe even another teaser featuring Reynolds and co-star Hugh Jackman is just around the corner.

Possible spoilers follow.

Cameos that have reportedly been lined up for Deadpool 3 include several X-Men characters (Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey among them), and possibly even Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch as different Variants of Gambit.

A recent rumor claimed that Liev Schreiber is also set to reprise his X-Men Origins: Wolverine role as Victor Creed (that appeared to be Tyler Mane in the recent set photos). Variants of the Merc With a Mouth are also expected to appear, including Dogpool (since confirmed), Kidpool, Lady Deadpool, and more.

The one major return that had been confirmed by the trades is Jennifer Garner as Elektra, but the Alias alum declined to confirm anything in a recent interview.

Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps.

Plot details also remain a mystery for now, but Wade and Wolvie are expected to find themselves (trapped?) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A recent report claimed that Loki's TVA, including Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Miss Minutes, will be involved. We have also been led to believe that Wade's MCU debut will be far more integral to Phase 5 and beyond than we first realized.

"Deadpool 3" is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.

Remember when people thought Deadpool 2 would be Untitled Deadpool Sequel. They should just go with it.

@dracula - You beat me to it by 2 minutes but I was going to say the same thing (just lean into the meta and call it "Untitled Deadpool Movie"). Damn bathroom breaks! From now on I'm just wearing a catheter.

Would be pretty on-brand for Deadpool if that turns out to be the actual title.

Sorry, but it just doesn't feel right that the MCU is giving up everything to Jackman's Wolverine instead of their potential own Wolverine. Its like they're sabotaging themselves for no reason.

The first MCU movie with Wolverine's name in the title will be Jackman's (instead of an MCU-native Wolverine), Jackman's Wolverine is gonna be the first one to play around in the MCU on-screen (instead of an MCU-native Wolverine, which is weird), he's gonna be the first one to wear the costume (which was Fox's fault for never letting him, but it didn't need to be rectified in the MCU of all places), he's gonna be the first one to interact with other MCU heroes (instead of an MCU-native Wolverine, which again, is freaking weird), and apparently the movie ends with Reynolds saying Jackman can't be recast...

Like, why are they intentionally shooting themselves in the foot here? The stubborn talk online about Jackman being "irreplaceable" in the role was always just that, people being stubborn. But now they're validating all of that for literally no reason. And for one of their biggest characters.

We are all trying to get away from multiverse-centric, silly-comedy MCU.... by heralding in the silliest, most-multiversal movie ever? Man, I just want to get back to some linear story telling that actually takes itself seriously, in as much as a fantasy world is supposed to.

@rychlec - The multiverse stuff is the most successful stuff out there. The regular shit is what people seem to be bored of in a post-Endgame world.

No Way Home was the only movie to come close to that Avengers: Endgame-level success.

MoM made a lot of money and really the main reason people were disappointed with it is that it didn't have enough cameos and multiverse madness.

The Spider-verse movies have probably replaced the MCU as the fan-favorite franchise right now.

And Everything, Everywhere, All At Once won Best Picture!

The only really unsuccessful multiverse movie has been The Flash and that was a DCEU movie. Each DCEU movie is flopping harder and harder than the last one, there's no saving that franchise. If it had been the same premise but had no connection to the DCEU it might have been DC's No Way Home. They brought back Michael Keaton and it still flopped.
DCEU doesn't count. Aquaman 2 will probably make less money than Blue Beetle and the first one made a billion dollars. Whether you offer the audience some multiversal fan-service or some naughty massage service, it still won't get them to see a DCEU movie.

Every other multiverse movie has been massively successful.

This headline reminds me of the time when people legitimately thought the main villains of The Avengers (2012) were an alien race called The Redacted.

Really thought that was the actual title after reading the headline. Does feel on brand for Deadpool

I wouldn't be surprised if it just ends up being called Deadpool 3, Deadpool & Wolverine, or X-Force: the Fantabulous Decapitation of One Deadpool though.
