The news broke last week that Free Guy and The Adam Project director Shawn Levy would re-team with Ryan Reynolds for the third Deadpool movie, but we still don't know if The Merc With a Mouth will be joined by any old allies from his previous big-screen outings.
Vanessa Carlyle (Morena Baccarin) was introduced as Wade Wilson's love interest in the first movie, and even though she only had a minor role in the sequel, the character was a huge part of the anti-hero's arc.
Of course, Vanessa was killed-off at the beginning of Deadpool 2, but the door was left open for her return when Wade used Cable's (Josh Brolin) time-travel device to go back and prevent her death. However, if Marvel Studios is planning to bring Vanessa back for the upcoming threequel, Baccarin has been left out of the loop.
"I know nothing, cause I'm usually the last to know," the Firefly alum told The Wrap. "I also live under a rock. I have three kids and you're telling me there's a director attached. I had no idea. I heard that, finally, today. I was like, 'Oh, that's cool!'".
Though Baccarin would gladly reprise the role, she says Marvel is being "very, very annoyingly tight-lipped." Unfortunately, her co-star is just as secretive.
"I text Ryan every six months, and I'm like 'What's going onnnn?'. He's like, 'Hey, how are you? How's your family?'. I'm like, 'Not what I'm asking youuuu!'"
It would be a shame if all of Deadpool's friends and foes were to be recast, but that is the most likely scenario if the studio intends to go the "soft reboot" route. All we really know right now is that Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin are working on the script, but some more details should be revealed soon now that a director is attached.
