DEADPOOL 3 Enlists THE ADAM PROJECT Director Shawn Levy To Helm

There was a lot of speculation that Ryan Reynolds might reteam with his Free Guy and The Adam Project director Shawn Levy for his MCU debut in Deadpool 3, and it's now been confirmed!

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds recently teased some major updates relating to his return as The Merc With a Mouth, and THR has now revealed that the MCU-set threequel has found a director.

After working with Reynolds on Disney/20th Century Studios' smash-hit Free Guy and new Netflix sci-fi movie The Adam Project, Shawn Levy is set to reteam with the actor for Wade Wilson's third big-screen outing. The filmmaker is said to be in negotiations to board the project, but is expected to commit.

The first two Deadpool movies were massive hits for 20th Century Fox (taking in $783.1 million and $785.8M, respectively) and the Disney-owned Marvel Studios will be hoping to repeat that success. The sequel added Josh Brolin (Cable) and Zazie Beetz (Domino) to the franchise, but there's no word on whether either of them are set to reprise their roles.

Right now, all we really know about Deadpool 3 is that it will be rated R, and Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin penned the script. There are rumors that the Merc With a Mouth could show up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but Reynolds recently denied any involvement.

No release date has been announced, but we should begin to get more regular updates now that a director is on board.

I think that’s a good choice, after Free Guy. It was pretty meta like Deadpool.

Also, first?

I really liked Free Guy and from the trailers The Adam Project looks fun too (I'll probably check it out next week). Think Levy can find the right balance between what Deadpool is and what Disney wants.

But what about Reynolds sabbatical? Is that still happening? Or can we expect this movie in 2024 or 2025 already?

@bkmeijer - just saying, currently watching it and it's worth it just for the kid that's so good at being a young Ryan Reynolds.

@bkmeijer -

One of those likeable actors, even his promotional interviews are fun.
In another alternate reality he'd have had an amazing Green Lantern trilogy with him

Man, what a bummer. Free Guy was abysmal, n Adam Project is impressively mediocre

@Cap1 - I only watched a little of free guy, annoying. I should try again with one of my kids, and generally less of a nerd at those times

@Cap1 - I really enjoyed Free Guy. I wanted to hate it, but I thought it was super fun, if dumb.

I hope it’s better than Deadpool 2

@JonAwesome - DP2 was garbage. The kid and the terrible CGI ruined it for me.

Real Steel is so underrated. His Night at museum movies are fun too.

@micvalpro - that movie was like Medabots for western audiences and they never capitalized on that, WTF!

@micvalpro - Agreed. Solid underdog story, wouldn’t mind a sequel.

I don't know. Levy is pretty hit or miss. Yeah free guy was good and the Adam project looks pretty good. But date night and the night of the museum sequels were pretty bad. I'll have to see a trailer to know fully if I'm down for.this or not.

Great news Loved Free Guy, a lot of heart in that movie as well.
Will be watching The Adam Project tomorrow and that also looks like it has an emotional core at the centre of the movie.
