Marvel Studios brought its A-game to San Diego Comic-Con with a series of blockbuster announcements and first looks at some upcoming MCU movies/shows, but one project that received only the bare minimum of coverage was Deadpool 3.
We know that the first R-rated Marvel Studios production will be directed by Shawn Levy and that Ryan Reynolds will reprise the role of Wade Wilson, but very little has been revealed about the film beyond this. Kevin Feige wasn't about to divulge any significant details during a recent interview with THR, but he did make some interesting comparisons to earlier MCU threequels.
Feige "noted the studio historically takes big swings with part threes. 'How do we elevate it in the way we’ve been able to with Civil War, and Infinity War and Ragnarok? 'It’s very fun to be in the world of the Ryan Reynolds show.'”
This obviously doesn't tell us a whole lot, but it certainly sounds like Feige and co. are planning something big for The Merc With a Mouth's MCU debut.
Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick previously gave fans a slightly better idea of what to expect from the plot when they described the threequel as a "fish-out-of-water story" that will "drop a lunatic into a very sane world." They also suggested that the powers that be have been very "hands off," and nothing is off limits for ol' Deadpool to "poke fun at."
Wade finding himself dropped straight into the midst of the MCU via some kind of Multiverse displacement seems like the safest bet, but exactly how that goes down and which other characters are involved remains to be seen.
What do you guys hope to see from the third Deadpool movie? Drop us a comment down below.
