GOTHAM's Morena Baccarin Lands Female Lead In DEADPOOL
Baccarin, most recently seen as Jim Gordon's love interest on Gotham, has beaten several other actresses to the role of Wade Wilson's (Ryan Reynolds) girlfriend in Fox's Deadpool movie. We still don't have a name for her character, but do have a few new details.
According to THR, Morena Baccarin (Homeland, Serenity, Gotham) has nabbed the female lead in Tim Miller's Deadpool movie. Specifics on her character are not revealed, but the site confirms that she will be playing the Merc with a Mouth's love interest, who "grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face." The prevailing theory is that she'll be playing Vanessa Carlyle, aka Copycat, but aside from the leaked script a few years ago we don't really have any solid evidence to back that up. Baccarin beat the likes of Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), Crystal Reed (Teen Wolf), Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Red Band Society), Sarah Greene (Vikings) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow) to the role. Ed Skrein (possibly Ajax), T.J. Miller (probably Weasel) and Gina Carano (Angel Dust) are also locked in for roles. Deadpool hits theaters February 12, 2016.
