Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well. The film lands in theaters March 8, 2013!

I find that it's interesting that the minute the first comment on any post calls a movie, show, or actor crap typically the next couple of post agrees.

I have noticed this trend and it's funny, almost like alot of you don't have a mind of your own.

This movie was not bad, it was nostalgic but it looked good, Raimi was awesome although there were one or two questionable choices and Franco made the wizard his own, if you go in expecting to watch "The Wizard of Oz" you will be disappointed, this is about the journey to become the wizard.

Ps. I love the lil ceramic girl, made my girl cry.

I enjoyed it for what it was...a journey back to OZ. We've been needing one for a long time. Its a fairy tale, not a deep-thinking drama. I love some of the small things Raimi threw in for the true fans of Baum.

I love all the arm-chair critics. I say this all the time, if you think you can make a better movie, then get off your ass and make something better, otherwise, STFU. Raimi was actually pretty true to the books. Believe it or not, the original movie wasn't. Don't believe me, buy the 15 books of Oz.

-just my two cents-

I liked it for what it was.
Plus any1 find it ironic that in That 70's Show Jackie dreams of being in the Wizard of Oz n now Kunis is a witch in OZ XD

@HRDWYR, true but i think that the bad things of the movie were the "modern" addition like forced comic lines, forced "cute" moments, and the wicked witch, god, she was awful, the makeup (CGI?) was terrible, she looked like a beautiful woman with fake nose and chin, and the laugh...OH MY GOD the laugh, that was one of the worst made things i ever saw! (but with it, i can't totally be sure, i didn't watched in the original language, so, to judge completely i have to hear it in the english version)

Anyway, the ideas were good, really, i think raimi made a good work, but disney forced his hand to make commercial things, that make kids laugh, girls cry and squeal for cuteness, and awesome mindless fights for boys, anything else that wasn't in this commercial view was good. Oh and i liked the final part, that was made with a little more brain.
