Johnny Depp Looks Set To Return For ALICE IN WONDERLAND Sequel

It was revealed earlier this year that The Muppets director James Bobin will helm the sequel to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Well, it has now been revealed that Johnny Depp is in talks to return.

News has broken today of Johnny Depp's multi-year "first look" deal at Disney to develop film projects he can produce there. However, according to Deadline's sources, that isn't exactly news as the deal was closed months ago and is only just now being openly talked about. What IS news is the fact that the star - who has recently struggled to find an audience with both Dark Shadows and The Lone Ranger - is in final negotiations to return as 'The Mad Hatter' in the sequel to box office smash, Alice in Wonderland. The follow-up is set to be directed by The Muppets helmer James Bobin and Depp is of course already confirmed as reprising the role of 'Captain Jack Sparrow' in Pirates of the Caribbean 5. What do you guys think of this news?

Does no one on this site realize Burton wasn't catering to an adult audience when he created the first one? My kids and I enjoyed the first one and from what I've been told by my sisters, so did their families. I wouldn't watch it without my kids and wife however, but to see the looks on my kids' faces during the movie was well worth the price of admission.

With that said, I just don't see the need for a sequel. Perhaps ABC could create a TV series where they bring all these fantastic characters into modern day. Oh wait...

Johnny Depp used to be one of the most interesting actors in Hollywood. Now, he's one of the most predictable. His career for the past 10 years could be summed up as:

Disney movie ... Burton flick ... Disney movie ... Burton flick ... Disney movie ... Burton flick.

He needs to stop returning Burton's phone calls.
