LUCA: Check Out The New Trailer And Poster For One of Pixar's Weirdest Movies Yet

Disney and Pixar have released a new trailer and poster for Luca, a movie that definitely promises to be one of the studio's most wonderfully weird stories to date. Check out this latest sneak peek here...

Disney has released a new trailer and poster for Luca, a movie that promises to showcase one incredible summer in the Italian seaside town of Portorosso...seen through the eyes of a sea monster named Luca.

This certainly looks like something different from Pixar, and that animation style is definitely a departure for the studio. Luca is also the second of their movies to head straight to Disney+; just like last year's Soul, it will be available for free (so, no $29.99 "Premier Access") on June 18th.

Luca is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface.

The voice cast features Jacob Tremblay as Luca Paguro, Jack Dylan Grazer as Alberto Scorfano, Emma Berman as Giulia Marcovaldo, Saverio Raimondo as town bully Ercole Visconti, Maya Rudolph as Luca’s mom Daniela, Marco Barricelli as Giulia’s dad Massimo, Jim Gaffigan as Luca’s dad Lorenzo,  Sandy Martin as Luca’s grandma, and Giacomo Gianniotti as a local fisherman.

Pixar just keeps surprising me with their premises. After, toyos, bugs, monsters, fish, cars, rats, dogs, and souls, it's now up to fish disguised as Italians having feelings.

I still cannot unsee this as a kid version of the movie spring.

If it’s even a fraction as good as that movie I’ll check it out!

Nah, I highly doubt that. Director said it's just about two dudes that are friends. And I mean, they're little kids, that's what it should be about anyway.

The Mermaid Dad still has a Mustache. Definitely gonna be a good movie.

The girl's Dad looks a lot like the Dad from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Pixar is like the last big name studio who stills funnels large amounts of cocaine into the writer's room.

"Hey, remember that episode of South Park with that fishstick joke? Let's make a movie about that!"

Well, isn't this just the most heartwarming thing I've seen the whole week.

Seriously though. This seems really creative and imaginative. Good to see something original like this being still made.

"One of Pixar's Weirdest Movies Yet" what's so weird about it compared to other Pixar movies? Do you say that just cos the art style is different to what they normally do?

@Boyle360 - Yeah, Inside Out and Soul had much more absurd premise than this. Compared to those, this seems actually like a quite traditional Disney movie story.

What's with awful Mario like accents? That's stereotypical! Couldn't just the movie be in Italian?

@dirtyscore - There will be an Italian dub to watch & it's probably the best way to watch it. Just like Coco's Latin American Spanish dub is better than the native English.

I hope it's as good as it looks!

By this time next year we'll be talking about Academy Award Winner for Best Animated Picture Luca.
