"We were brought on to design characters for Sam Raimi's OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL and had a big appetite for a combination of prosthetics, animatronics, and digital-enhanced characters. Ours was a different direction than production was headed (it's easy for us to have a big appetite when we're not paying the bills). Ultimately, the job went to our friends at KNB." - studioADI

Concept Art By Michael Kutsche

Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

I actually like the concept art of the Wicked Witch than the final product. It looks like something out of Evil Dead or Drag Me to Hell.

Amazing film. Reading 'The Art of Oz' book really shows you how much work was actually put into making the movie.

It was just okay. Had Raimi's fingerprints all over it, especially that scene towards the beginning when Franco & Kunis 1st meet and the camera zooms and tilts.

I didn't like the Dragonballz battle at the very end. Everybody says it copied Harry Potter, but Potter copied Dragon ball.

It was alright movie and I think it would have been much better without James Franco. The entire time it just felt like something was missing. Hopefully it gets a sequel and its better.

If they do a sequel, I really wanna see a cool origin story for the Tinman. His story is really tragic in the original book.
