Gal Gadot is no stranger to playing a hero after spending so much time as the DC Extended Universe's Wonder Woman, but she'll finally get the chance to sink her teeth into a villainous role with Disney's Snow White.
It's actually been a while since we've heard anything about the movie, though we do know that shooting on the Marc Webb-helmed project wrapped last summer.
The filmmaker's take on the classic 1937 animated movie will star Rachel Zegler as Snow White, reuniting her with Gadot after the two actresses shared the screen in Shazam! Fury of the Gods as Anthea and Wonder Woman.
During a recent interview with Vogue (via SFFGazette.com), Gadot opened up on paying the Evil Queen, and it sounds like we should expect something of a transformative performance from the Wonder Woman star.
"I think it was so much fun to play the Evil Queen," she tells the site. "There was something so delicious with this part because it’s a fairy tale. It’s the first Disney villain. And because it’s a musical, I could stretch my performance and make it so much more dramatic and so much more animated, that it was just simply delightful."
"I enjoyed it, and I changed my voice and I did all these different things," Gadot continued. "And it was just super fun, and I can’t wait to watch it. I can’t wait to see how you know how it all turns out."
With her time as Wonder Woman seemingly at an end, it's going to be refreshing seeing something new from the actress. Despite returning as Diana Prince in The Flash, the expectation now is that the role will eventually be recast for DC Studios' rebooted DCU.
As for Snow White, excitement is high to see what sort of spin Disney ends up putting on the classic fairytale when it's adapted to live-action. The studio's remakes have been nothing if not divisive, but this one feels like it has real potential.
Snow White is set to be released in theaters on March 22, 2024.
