With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi now officially part of the Marvel Studios fold, fans of the filmmaker have been campaigning to see him take the helm of another Spider-Man movie. Raimi has previously admitted that it might be something he'd consider, but it sounds like he'd only be interested in continuing his own trilogy!
During an interview with LA Times, Raimi was asked if he'd be open to returning to the Spider-Man franchise for Tom Holland's next adventure, and while he was very impressed by No Way Home, he feels a certain someone might not be too happy about him working with another wall-crawler!
“I loved No Way Home,” he replied. “I thought it was a complete audience thrill ride. The crowd I was with were ooh-ing and ahh-ing, and it had a great heart to it. It was great seeing my old friends again.”
“I love Spider-Man,” Raimi continued. “And I love Tom Holland in the role. [But] if I made a Spider-Man movie, it would probably have to be with Tobey or he’d break my neck.”
Could this be taken as an indication that Raimi is lobbying to direct Spider-Man 4? That might be a stretch, but a large part of No Way Home's success stemmed from audiences getting to see Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parkers back in action, so we'd be very surprised if Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios weren't already laying out plans to capitalize.
Would you like to see Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire re-team for another Spider-Man movie?
