Doctor Strange may have died in Avengers: Infinity War but it appears as if Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is already plotting out the Sorcerer Supreme's future. During a recent interview, he was asked if we'll see the character receive a sequel somewhere down the line after his big screen debut back in 2016 and it sounds like things may finally be coming for the currently undated follow-up.
"Sometimes it’s where do those characters pop up?" Feige said. "[Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange one, which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he’s a very big part of Infinity War." It's a fair point. While fans will, of course, be frustrated that they've had to wait four or five years for Doctor Strange 2, we did get to see the hero in Thor: Ragnarok last year and he obviously played a key role in Avengers: Infinity War back in May.
As of right now, common sense says that we won't see Doctor Strange 2 until 2020 or 2021 but the Master of the Mystic Arts will probably show up somewhere before then. With any luck, Scott Derrickson will be at the helm of the sequel when it happens as he's already said that Nightmare would be the focus of the movie. What do you guys think?
