Earlier this week, an interesting rumour started doing the rounds online suggesting Marvel Studios is planning to move forward with a Strange Academy TV series on Disney+.
Borrowing its name from a comic book, Benedict Wong's Sorcerer Supreme Wong will reportedly take centre stage, likely training the next generation of sorcerers after the Scarlet Witch's devastating attack on Kamar-Taj. This would be a great place for Xochitl Gomez to return as America Chavez, especially if a new report from The Cosmic Circus is any indication.
They're claiming that, "Strange Academy is meant to be one of the more important tie-in stories leading into The Kang Dynasty, as it will also tie into multiple aspects of the MCU aside from the supernatural."
That presumably means the show would launch ahead of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty on May 2, 2025, meaning Marvel Studios will need to begin production sooner rather than later.
Recently, there were rumblings on social media that Doctor Strange 3 is also being fast-tracked, suggesting the MCU's magical side will be crucial to the Multiverse Saga in the coming years. With so many rumours swirling about delays and cancellations, we do hope to get an updated slate from Marvel Studios sooner rather than later.
The original rumour claims that Zelma Stanton will be part of Strange Academy after appearing in Ironheart, and seeing as her comic book counterpart became Stephen Strange's apprentice, that would make sense. As of right now, there's no word on who might be playing the character.
It's worth noting that this series hasn't been confirmed, but if done well, Strange Academy could be the MCU's own Wednesday. That was a massive hit for Netflix, and we're sure Disney+ would like to attract even a small percentage of its audience for this rumoured Doctor Strange spin-off.
