STRANGE ACADEMY Rumored TV Series Will Reportedly Be Key To AVENGERS: SECRET WARS

Marvel Studios is said to be moving forward with a Strange Academy TV series on Disney+, with the story - revolving around Sorcerer Supreme Wong - said to be key to Avengers: Secret Wars. Check it out!

Earlier this week, an interesting rumour started doing the rounds online suggesting Marvel Studios is planning to move forward with a Strange Academy TV series on Disney+.

Borrowing its name from a comic book, Benedict Wong's Sorcerer Supreme Wong will reportedly take centre stage, likely training the next generation of sorcerers after the Scarlet Witch's devastating attack on Kamar-Taj. This would be a great place for Xochitl Gomez to return as America Chavez, especially if a new report from The Cosmic Circus is any indication.

They're claiming that, "Strange Academy is meant to be one of the more important tie-in stories leading into The Kang Dynasty, as it will also tie into multiple aspects of the MCU aside from the supernatural."

That presumably means the show would launch ahead of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty on May 2, 2025, meaning Marvel Studios will need to begin production sooner rather than later.

Recently, there were rumblings on social media that Doctor Strange 3 is also being fast-tracked, suggesting the MCU's magical side will be crucial to the Multiverse Saga in the coming years. With so many rumours swirling about delays and cancellations, we do hope to get an updated slate from Marvel Studios sooner rather than later.

The original rumour claims that Zelma Stanton will be part of Strange Academy after appearing in Ironheart, and seeing as her comic book counterpart became Stephen Strange's apprentice, that would make sense. As of right now, there's no word on who might be playing the character.

It's worth noting that this series hasn't been confirmed, but if done well, Strange Academy could be the MCU's own Wednesday. That was a massive hit for Netflix, and we're sure Disney+ would like to attract even a small percentage of its audience for this rumoured Doctor Strange spin-off.

What would you guys like to see from a Strange Academy TV series?

I’d rather watch Carol’s Kitchen: Dead Chicken

@TheWalkingCuban - carol was a great baker though. Wasn't she known for her cookies while in Va?

@Chuck420Taylor - indeed she was, and also for threatening little boys who are they more scared of her than walkers

@TheWalkingCuban - that's the carol I miss. S4-S5 was the best of times.

@Chuck420Taylor - for sure. Later characters never could replace the OG’s and poor carol kept having Morgan type existential crises. Am i good or bad? Hey soldier’s go through it so it’s true stuff. But yeah she and Ezekiel shouldn’t have been a thing

@TheWalkingCuban - that was definitely one of those tv choices that made me go WHY? Granted she deserved to find true love after her pos husband. But they kept shipping her to no avail.

@Chuck420Taylor - well I get why she and Daryl never happened. They’re like brother and sister. But Ezekiel’s storyline makes sense: leaving the friend zone is tricky stuff. Could be she wants to but really doesn’t, so she’ll go through the motions til she just can’t. I have a friend I’m always hanging out with, we go to the gym together and stuff, nightclubs, I give her rides all the time. Fine as she is, I just got divorced from a fine woman. I don’t want to go through that again ha ha, I’m OK just being friends. Ezekiel didn’t realize he’s a nerd. Trying to get a cool girl. And then she was with another guy. Happens all the time, I guess even in postapocalypses

@TheWalkingCuban - oh no I agree with her and Daryl. I think that was fans more than the writing. But she dated the guy in Alexandria for a bit I can't remember his name. I always forget how much of a nerd Ezekiel is supposed to be because they got literally the one of the biggest needs imo to play him.

It's kind of frustrating that Wong is the Sorcerer Supreme and not Strange.

@CorndogBurglar - I kinda like that to be honest. Strange is too much of a maverick to be the Sorcerer Supreme in my opinion.

And not only does Wong color between the lines, he also looks to be more involved with the other Avengers.

@bkmeijer1 - Thats kind of my issue though. Strange shouldn't be a Maverick at this point. Early on, yes. But he's been a sorcerer for a while now. It's time to make him the experienced Sorcerer Supreme like he should be.

This is kind of cool
As far as strange 3. You either go two ways. Dive deeper into strange (nightmare as villain perhaps)... but to me that's getting boring

Or you go full comic book. Team him with his Defenders. But I don't see Benedict going for another movie where he can be outshined

@Vigor - I kinda hope to see the Defenders in Secret Wars (even if just for a brief moment). Same with the New Fantastic Four somewhere down the line.

As for DS3, I'm not sure yet. I already do have a title that's in line with 'in the Multiverse of Madness' though: Doctor Strange in the Dimension of Darkness.

Wong is so played out now. He was great and I loved him in Dr. Strange 1st movie but since then he's just kinda annoying everytime he shows up and him being Sorcerer Supreme cause of a technicality is just so incredibly uninteresting. Him in She-Hulk was last straw for me, I no longer like the character at all or find any aspect about him interesting. He's just another goofy dumb-ass dude in the MCU now and that sucks.

They keep pushing all these weak characters that were created in the last 12 years or so that couldn't even sell their own comics and were part of Marvel comics downfall to being only a shell of what it once was. What happened to the super cool Marvel characters that we know from the comics when the comics were actually popular and awesome?!?!?!?!?!

No way this is being released before Kang Dynasty. Just like Doctor Strange 3. Earliest I see both happening is in 2026.

Could see it be the case both Strange Academy and Doctor Strange are important in cleaning up the multiversal mess post-Secret Wars though (like closing universe so that incursions are being stopped from happening).

I think they are waiting to announce that a lot of it is going to get pushed back. They need to fit in Armor Wars, Doctor Strange 3, Shang Chi 2 and presumably Eternals 2 all before Secret Wars occurs.

@Scarilian - I doubt we'll get Eternals 2 before Secret Wars, but the Armor Wars and Shang-Chi 2 should fit in there somewhere.

@bkmeijer1 - I can see DS3 coming out in 2025, but yeah i dont think it'll be before Kang as you stated given the film slate leading to Kang is already full, but i can see DS3 be either the July or November 2025 films.

bkmeijer1 - 1/11/2023, 2:45 PM
@eagc1995 - I'm thinking July or November 2026 to be honest.

My guess is that July and November 2025 will be filled by Spider-Man 4 and Armor Wars, and February 2025 going to Shang-Chi. Hence why I expect DS3 to function as a sort of epilogue to Secret Wars.

@bkmeijer1 -
I don't think it makes any sense for Shang Chi 2, Eternals 2, Armor Wars or Doctor Strange 3 to come out after Secret Wars. They desperately need to be before otherwise the set-up and stakes in those films are meaningless.

Shang Chi is clearly setting up the Ten Rings series, even if the rings tie into Kang you still need to explain the situation with his sister and the Ten Rings prior to Kang Dynasty/Secret Wars.

Eternals is setting up the idea of Arishem judging the planet Earth, which will become irrelevant if Kang Dynasty/Secret Wars results in them saving the entire multiverse - threatening Earth would seem pathetic in comparison.

Armor Wars simply is too earth-based, it makes no sense for it to occur after Secret Wars because then the potential threat of the Skrulls which are rumored to be the adversary in the movie is going to be irrelevant in comparison with the multiverse being destroyed.

Doctor Strange 3, we need to have that beforehand as he's the only one who understands the multiverse partially and the only way we can figure out what's happening with him and Clea.

Heck, even Thor 4 needs to happen before Secret Wars because they set-up Hercules tracking down Thor and he won't want to murder Thor after Thor saves the entire multiverse.

@Scarilian - yeah, there is just way too much going on. Doubt they'll get through everything before the end of the saga.
