DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS: 6 Unanswered Questions After Watching The Sequel - SPOILERS

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness delivers its fair share of big moments and surprises, but we definitely walked away with some unanswered questions, and it's those we're taking a look at here.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has kicked the door open to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Multiverse, and the possibilities moving forward are now endless. It was less than half a year ago we saw some familiar Spider-Men emerge, of course, but this sequel takes a deep dive into the Multiverse to showcase a whole host of alternate realities and Variants.

With a big cliffhanger ending and a fair bit of ambiguity surrounding what happens next for certain characters, it's inevitable that fans will walk away from this movie with a few unanswered questions.

We're looking to avoid some of the more obvious examples here, instead focusing on other key moments and what we were left asking due to a lack of clarity (deliberate or otherwise) on Marvel's part. In the process, we try to provide what we believe could be answers to these queries.

So, to take a look through the movie's biggest unanswered questions, hit the "Next" button below!

6. What The Hell Happened To Rintrah?

Prior to the Doctor Strange sequel's release, we saw tonnes of merchandise highlighting Adam Hugill's Rintrah. Believed to be either Stephen Strange or Wong's apprentice in the movie, the expectation was that this CG character would steal the show (hence why he has his own action figure and Funko Pop). Instead, he's little more than a fancy-looking background extra with just a handful of lines.

To say Rintrah brings nothing to the table would be an understatement, leaving us to wonder what exactly went wrong here. We can only assume that something about this sorcerer simply didn't work, prompting Marvel Studios to cut most of his scenes. In the comic books, Rintrah repairs Strange's cloak, a role given to Christine Palmer's Variant. Could it be that he once went on that Multiversal trip?

5. What Comes Next For Mordo?

At the end of 2016's Doctor Strange, a disillusioned Karl Mordo broke bad and decided he would take the powers of sorcerers he deemed unworthy of wielding them. There's no sign of the hero turned villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but we do get to meet a Variant who is left alive during the Scarlet Witch's rampage. So, what's the deal with his sinister MCU counterpart?

During an exchange with America Chavez, Stephen Strange says Mordo has dedicated himself to killing him, suggesting they've crossed paths off-screen before now. We're holding out hope for a return in Doctor Strange 3, but his absence may be explained by rumours of a deleted scene with Mordo being beheaded when he took aim at Wanda in an opening revealing her villainy before she met with Strange.

4. Will John Krasinski Return As Mister Fantastic?

Fans have spent years campaigning for John Krasinski to play Fantastic Four leader Mister Fantastic in the MCU, and it finally become a reality in this sequel. As a member of The Illuminati, he tries to reason with Wanda Maximoff before meeting a grisly end at her hands when she reduces him to string and pops his head like a balloon. So, yeah, that's the end of this Variant of the hero, anyway.

It would be a major missed opportunity for Marvel Studios not to enlist Krasinski for the upcoming reboot, and with just a few scenes, the actor proved how perfect he is for the role. We're optimistic that he has signed up for future appearances because Mister Fantastic is believed to have been a relatively late addition to the movie, replacing Bruce Campbell as Thor's half-brother, Balder.

3. Is Doctor Strange Breaking Bad With Clea?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ends on an awesome cliffhanger with Stephen Strange walking through the streets of New York City, only to fall to his knees and scream out in pain as a third eye opens on his forehead. The clear insinuation there is that the former Sorcerer Supreme has fallen prey to the consequences of tapping into dark magic when he wielded the Darkhold's power.

However, the mid-credits scene - showing Clea recruiting Strange for a mission into the Dark Dimension due to him supposedly causing an incursion - contradicts this by showing the hero looking perfectly happy with the new eye. We can only assume that means Strange has embraced a new type of magic, something which could take him down a dark path alongside Dormammu's niece in future.

2. Where's The Vision?

While we can appreciate that schedules overlap (Sam Raimi has even admitted to not having watched all of WandaVision), it's baffling that The Vision is absent from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He's M.I.A. in The Illuminati's universe - leading us to wonder who Tommy and Billy's father is there - and is never really referenced beyond a brief conversation about Avengers: Infinity War.

We can only assume that Wanda remains unaware of White Vision's existence, as does Stephen Strange. That means the android has vanished in the wake of what happened in Westview and he clearly hasn't made any efforts to find his former lover. If Marvel Studios is following the comic books, we're going to put that down to the android having his memories, but no longer having any emotions.

1. Will We See Billy And Tommy Again?

Those of you hoping the Doctor Strange sequel would end with Tommy and Billy being aged up into Young Avengers' Speed and Wiccan were probably disappointed, and we can relate. After all, this movie marks the second time it's been rumoured that Marvel Studios had plans to do this, and we're assuming they're taking a slow burn approach and waiting for these actors to grow up a little.

There's no indication that the twins from The Illuminati's universe have superpowers, but what if they eventually find a way to the MCU, seeking revenge for what the Scarlet Witch did to their mother? After all, it's hard to imagine that Wanda escaped the consequences of murdering all those heroes, especially if people don't believe she was possessed by a Variant from another reality...

I'm kinda thinking Krasinski's appearance as Reed is a one time thing (or am I just saying that because I want Dev Patel as Reed?), and we'll only see him return for the Fantastic Four movie as the director.

Also, the finale definitely should've had White Vision show up. Him showing up to fly Wanda out of the rubble like in Age of Ultron with the falling Sokovia could've worked.

I don’t really see a place for The Vision after Doc Strange 2. I think it’s about time that Marvel shifted from The Avengers and start to focus on mutants and the X-men.
