One of Eternals' post-credits scenes featured the MCU debut of Harry Styles (Dunkirk, My Policeman) as Eros, aka Starfox, who sought out Thena, Makkari and Druig to let them know how they can track down their missing team-mates.
The pop megastar's involvement gained a lot of attention for the Marvel Studios film (even if it didn't do much for its box office performance), and because official updates on future plans for the character (and franchise in general) have been pretty much non-existent, speculation mounted that his introduction may have been an example of "stunt casting."
Styles himself has cast some doubt on his potential return, and Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani recently wondered if the singer had been brought on board "for the sake of it."
"Ohhh, I feel so weird about it! I don’t know. It’s strange. I wonder, I really wonder if they’re gonna go ahead and do something with the character, or if they just teased it for the sake of it," the actress said in an interview. "Because I know Chloe Zhao is a big Harry Styles fan. But then you have all of the Harry Styles fandom in the MCU fandom, how chaotic would that be?"
Now, producer Nate Moore has confirmed that we will see Starfox in the MCU again - but he didn't specify if it'll be in an Eternals sequel or some other project.
“We didn’t cast Harry for a tag, There's more stories to be told with [Eros]," Moore tells Deadline. "He’s a complicated character, but a really fun character. And I think, having met Harry Styles, he is as charming as you want him to be. And I think there’s no limit to how good that character’s going to be once we get to bring him back.”
It would have been very strange if Marvel had cast Styles for a "one and done" appearance, but it's understandable that some questioned the studio's plans for the character moving forward.
