ETERNALS Stills Shift The Focus To The Marvel Cinematic Universe's New Love Story With Ikaris And Sersi

Seven new stills from Eternals have been released, with the majority putting the focus on the Marvel Cinematic Universe's latest (and oldest) love story with Richard Madden's Ikaris and Gemma Chan's Sersi.

Eternals looks set to introduce a lot of new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while another big romance promises to take centre stage in the movie. It feels like a while since Marvel Studios has told a good old fashioned love story, but we're not sure how well things for Ikaris and Sersi will end now Dane Whitman has entered the picture.

Regardless, this timeless romance between the two Eternals is the main focus of these new stills.

During a recent interview with Indie Wire, director Chloé Zhao opened up on the importance of including a sex scene in the MCU (a franchise first). "For us to be able to show two people who love each other, not just emotionally and intellectually but also physically, and to have a sex scene that will be seen by a lot of people that shows their love and compassion and gentleness - I think it’s a really beautiful thing," the filmmaker explains.

We're assuming the scene in question involves Ikaris and Sersi, though some of the early reactions did point out that it's very tame (so don't expect anything too raunchy for a Disney movie).

Take a look at these new Eternals stills below:

Eternals is the MCU's latest team-up, and features a group of heroes from beyond the stars who had protected the Earth since the dawn of man. When the Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.

Chloé Zhao directs Eternals, and Kevin Feige and Nate Moore are the producers, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Kevin de la Noy serving as executive producers. The story is by Ryan Firpo & Matthew K. Firpo, and the screenplay is by Chloé Zhao and Patrick Burleigh.

The Marvel Studios movie stars Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.

Eternals is set to be released on November 5.

Dune just came out and in less than 2 weeks we're getting another ambitious sci-fi epic. Damn are we spoiled.

@WakandanQueen -

What did you think of dune? I thought it was heavy lore if you walk into the film fresh without knowing anything and it felt incomplete but still a great time in theaters👦

@WakandanQueen - I gave Dune 3.5 Stars but hard movie to sit through 2.5 hours. Almost no action scenes and talking parts were dull of course end doesn't help.

@AmazingFILMporg - I went in knowing next to nothing about the lore and I loved every second of it. Probably my favorite "blockbuster" in many years. And it gets better with each viewing imo, once the surprise element is gone and replaced with noticing the layers of the storytelling. I did expect an incomplete film based on what I had read about it, but I was surprised with how complete it felt, especially Paul's arc. Really feel like we're witnessing a generational phenomenon, this is everything the SW sequel trilogy couldn't be.

And it's not even my favorite Villeneuve.

Awesome that you loved it. This film made me want a sequel very badly. The action and the weight of everything just feels next level. It's really beautiful and the villain is truly something out of nightmares.

I hope we get a sequel.

@AmazingFILMporg - I'm very optimistic we're getting one. Also, the score should win every award possible.

thewanderer

@SpideyPuffsMJ - I still think they'll end up doing a twist and making Kit Harrington's Dane Whitman secretly a Deviant rather than Black Knight.
