Marvel's The Eternals has found its Ikaris in the form of Richard Madden.

As first revealed by The Wrap, the former Game of Thrones alum is in negotiations to join Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani in the Marvel Studios cosmic adventure, which will be directed by The Rider's Chloe Zhao. Though this initial report didn't name the character he'll be playing, Variety has since chimed in and confirmed that he has indeed been cast as the virtually immortal Ikaris.

Madden is best known for his portrayal of the doomed Robb Stark during the first three seasons of Game of Thrones, but more recently he garnered high praise for his turn in BBC drama Bodyguard.

The Eternals hasn't been given an official release date just yet, but it is expected to commence production later this year.

@rebellion - I always suspected that rumor was going to cause problems. Even just the suggestion that Marvel is looking for gay actors could put closeted performers in a tough spot about whether they even want the exposure. (And not even full-on closeted-closeted, but just people who keep their private life private.)

Being openly inviting to LGBT actors is great, but there are still complications around it.
