AMERICAN GODS: Shadow And Mr. Wednesday Prepare For War In The Full Trailer For Season 2

The second season of American Gods has not had the smoothest of journeys to the small screen, but despite losing two showrunners and principal cast member Gillian Anderson in a very short span, Starz's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's celebrated novel will return for its sophomore outing on March 10.

The first full trailer was released today, and if the behind-the-scenes turmoil had any impact on the quality of the series, it certainly isn't evident from this footage.

The action picks up hours after Mr. Wednesday revealed himself as Odin to Shadow Moon in the season 1 finale, as The Old Gods rally to support our heroes in the oncoming battle against Mr. World and his forces. If you've read Gaiman's book then you'll have some idea of how the story will progress - although season 1 did make a few significant changes to the story, so there's every chance season 2 will follow suit.

“in Season Two, the battle moves inexorably toward crisis point as the destinies of gods and men collide. While Mr. World plots revenge for the attack against him in Season One, Shadow throws in his lot with Wednesday’s attempt to convince the Old Gods of the case for full-out war, with Laura and Mad Sweeney in tow. A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois: forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods — a dark world where change demands commitment, and faith requires terrible sacrifice.”

@MrCamw1 - You should try it out, writers are extraordinary, and Boden and Fleck who are directing Captain Marvel directed quite a few episodes, which is getting me confident about CM. Acting is amazing, so is the story, the characters, it's like watching Black Sails in the world of finance. Damien Lewis from Life and Homeland, the chick from Sons of Anarchy, Paul Giamatti, David Costabile, it really is an amazing show. So is Power on Starz.

10 or 15 years ago, this show would have been cancelled after 1 episode for being too hardcore. People would have rioted. It's really funny to see how far we've come as a modern society, and how far we've pushed the boundaries of what's brutal or vulgar or hardcore. 15 years ago a girl kissing another girl in a movie (Cruel Intentions) broke the Internet, or an adult having sex with his stepmom got a show cancelled (Profit), and now we have a cheated woman telling a guy on her husband's grave she wants to swallow his cum so her husband can watch, and we think it's one of the best shows on TV lol

How far we've come.

The book is in my top 5 of all time, somehow I read it in two days. It was so addicting! The show did a great job with season one, of course things were left out but the actors are PERFECT for the characters. 5 chapters a season, 4 seasons total and I'm totally cool with that. This season is going to end with the glorious battle of the new and old gods, plus a bunch more. I'm so [frick]ing excited!! Hopefully the new showrunner has the same kind of vision Fuller did.
