AMERICAN GODS: Shadow And Mr. Wednesday Prepare For War In The Full Trailer For Season 2
The first full trailer for the second season of Starz's American Gods is now online, and it gives us a glimpse of some new characters while reintroducing a few old friends. Check it out after the jump...
The second season of American Gods has not had the smoothest of journeys to the small screen, but despite losing two showrunners and principal cast member Gillian Anderson in a very short span, Starz's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's celebrated novel will return for its sophomore outing on March 10.
The first full trailer was released today, and if the behind-the-scenes turmoil had any impact on the quality of the series, it certainly isn't evident from this footage.
The action picks up hours after Mr. Wednesday revealed himself as Odin to Shadow Moon in the season 1 finale, as The Old Gods rally to support our heroes in the oncoming battle against Mr. World and his forces. If you've read Gaiman's book then you'll have some idea of how the story will progress - although season 1 did make a few significant changes to the story, so there's every chance season 2 will follow suit.

“in Season Two, the battle moves inexorably toward crisis point as the destinies of gods and men collide. While Mr. World plots revenge for the attack against him in Season One, Shadow throws in his lot with Wednesday’s attempt to convince the Old Gods of the case for full-out war, with Laura and Mad Sweeney in tow. A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois: forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods — a dark world where change demands commitment, and faith requires terrible sacrifice.”
