We had already heard that Aronofsky's take on the story of Noah's Ark was gaining momentum, now the director may have targeted his leading man. Deadline reckon Russell Crowe might be the one to man the Ark in the Biblical epic..

Darren Aronofsky is ready to set sail on Noah, the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. I’m hearing that the Black Swan director wants Russell Crowe to play the title role in the New Regency/Paramount film. I can’t tell you that this is all going to lead to a deal but signs are pointing that way

They also report that Aronofsky may be looking at Liam Nesson for a role too, perhaps this villain we have heard about? Production on Noah, which also has a graphic novel adap in the works, is expected to begin fairly soon, with a script by Aronofsky and Ari Handel which was subsequently rewritten by Gladiator and Skyfall scribe John Logan. Aronofsky was said to be looking at Christian Bale and Michael Fassbender at one point so if this is on the level he seems to have decided to cast quite a bit older. Anyway nothing definite yet, we will see how this pans out.
