Attack on Titan is a anime series about the race of humanity contending with a scourge of creatures called TITANS which ravage the land, eating ONLY people, so essentially imagine your "Fee-Fi-Foe-FUM" Giant, but as fast as a normal human and the predatory urge to feed like a hyena, and the rationality of a ferral dog.
To prevent being eaten, the humans built up giant walls to keep the bohemoth's out, but all that came crashing to an end when a Titan larger than any of them had ever seen, kicked a hole in the wall big enough to let the others in, and they fed on every man woman and child that they could...one of which being the mother of the show's protagonist who takes up arms in his teen years as a giant slayer to help defend humanity from the Titan threat.
For the character of Eren Jeager, the young man who lost his mother to the savage brutes known as Titans, I choose, Asa Butterfield.
His performance and range in his varying roles from Hugo to Enders Game should satisfy anyone looking for evidence of his acting prowess, and he has the glare that Eren envokes and could do it in a way that isn't forced or corny
Eren as a character has a unyeilding fire in him, and has since his youth, when he defended Mikasa from child traffcers by stabbing them savagely with a veggitable knife, when he was only 10 years old.
For his friend adopted into his family after he saved her from child slavers, I choose Isabelle Fuhrman as Mikasa Ackerman. Her roles in the Hunger Games as Clove, and in the movie the Orphan, should leave no doubt in anyones mind that she can play the withdrawn...dangerous, and devoted companion to Eren. (And for the inevitable ranters....she's supposed to be HALF asian......half...)
For Eren's second closest friend, Armin Arlert, I choose Dakota Goya from Reel Steel. The kid's got good chops, and can easily portray the lilly livered Titan-phobic Armin, and then come out swinging when the chips are down when he steps up to the plate for the first time.
For Eren's small time rival and resident "I told you not to come in here McFly!!!" I choose Dave Franco as Jean Kirstein, the lovable pompous douche who comes full circle and becomes a selfless stratagist due to his experiences with the heroes.
For everyone's favorite curvy, food obsessed girl who doesn't gain an ounce of weight, I choose Shaileen Woodley as Sasha Braus, the "Potato girl." She may be out of her mind, but is sweet at heart and would put an arrow through your eye before you hurt her friends, Titan, or no Titan.
For the character I'm sure everyone's been waiting for, I choose Nicolas Hoult as the Survey Corps singular grade-A Raw Bad Ass, Levi Rivalle.
Captain Levi is a stoic, calculating, strong young Titan slayer of the Survey Corps, and a brutal fighter famous for killing dozens of Titans by himself at a time, more than that when he has his crack team at his back.
He seems cold and removed to the point of being sociopathic, but at has a dedication to Humanity and it's innoscence that he will risk anything to protect.
Nicolas Hoult is an outstanding Actor from the UK, with fantastic range and depth forh is age, he would KILL the role of Captain Levi.
Hanji Zoe is stictly speaking out of her mind, but is the one scientific leader on the exact nature of the Titan threat as their analyst, and experimenter. She's intrigued with the Titan's inspite of all the bloodshed they've caused, and the near instances she's nearly been bitten, not flinching an eye lash when her face was nearly bitten off, and is determined to discover how to crack the mystery of these abominations that don't seem to need to reproduce in order to bring more of themselves about...as well as subject the one's they capture to countless experiments and tortures until she truly finds out what makes them tick.
I choose Eden Sher from the Middle as Hanji Zoe, she's got a quality to her that assures me that she could portray the wide eyed, fearless professor.
Chief Survey Corp Officer, Erwin Smith, is the other side of Levi's coin, where Levi is a brilliant and nearly unbeatable Titan Slayer and fighter, Erwin has a mind like a steel trap, and a genius tactician with an iron unshaking will. He realizes how close humanity is to being instinct do the uprising of the Titan's, and know's that they will have to over turn and pass up protocalls, class warefare, and even the peace of the city if that city is to be saved in the end.
For the true blue Survey Corp Cheiften, I choose Chris Evans, he's proven his worth in gold where it comes to acting (And not just cause of Captain America) but his roles in movies such as "The Iceman" or the "Tear Drop Diamond." He has serious acting range, and can definately play the cold and hard commander of the Wall's army, but have enough glimmers of patriatism and honor for his Steve Rogers side to shine through.
For the cold, reclusive Annie Leonhardt, the mysterious girl with a secret to the titans no suspects, I choose Dakota Fanning. Annie is one of the survey corps strongest, and most tenacious Titan slayers, but holds a secret to the Titan scourge that none but her seems to know... she conveys allot without even saying a word, and despite her size lets you know how in danger you are to get on her bad side.
Dakota Fanning in my opinion is simply made for this role
For the mountain of a man, Reiner Braun, I choose Alexander Ludwig from Race to Witch Mountain, Hunger Games, and Lone Survivor.
Reiner was always big for his age, and is a power house to be reconed with as a member of the wall's military police, and eventually Survey Corps alongside Eren, Mikasa, and Annie. He's known for jumping head long into danger when Titan's attack, and coming out alive, even with hurt team mates on his back, however he seems to know something about members of his own team that may prove dangerous...but seems fit to keep it to himself...for now...
Reiner's best friend Bertholdt is oddly enough nothing like him, he's not very aggressive or forward , or self confident, but seems to feel safe enough in the line of work he's in, he also encourages Eren to push himself, having the possiblity to succeed at obtaining his goal.
For him I choose Max Irons.
For Dot Pixis, Commander of the Military within the wall, I choose LOST's Terry O'Quinn.
Dot Pixis (Inspite of how his name sounds) is actually an extremely compitant and observant leader, who reads between the lines. While his higher ups and the royalty of the city seem to thrive on self centuredness, and using the people, he finds a stalwartness in his post to help him look in the peoples best interest, and does so by putting on the persona that he doesn't really care as a mask.
I see Terry O' Quinn capable of playing such a character.
