It's weird how they made Medusa hot in the first picture of Medusa. Isn't she supposed to be soo ugly that she turns you to stone? Guess not.

Calibos looks pretty terrible I must say..and I'm not a big fan of the new Kraken either, he looked better in the original.

Still looks great though.

everything about this film is different/darker than the original. Perseus is no longer a pretty boy, Medusa is hot, the Kraken looks like a mutated turtle, Pegasus is now black, Zeus has a brown beard and wears armor, and the scorpions are freaken huge. Other than the hot medusa, this film looks good. :)

@Star Greek mythology suggests Medusa was in fact very beautiful so much so that she was able to seduce the god Poseidon and lay with him in the in goddess Athena's temple.

Seeing this as a insult to herself and a front to Medusa's role as a priestess in the temple (Athena is the virgin patron of Athens) Athena transformed her beautiful hair to serpents and made her face so terrible to behold that the mere sight of it would turn any man to stone - though it is also said she was able still to enchant men to her lair before revealing her true form.

Being a huge fan of the original i don't really see this as a remake/reboot, rather a new film with a simular story baised on the mythology.

z3ro, actually the original Kraken was stop motion animation. And i'm not talking about the special effecets used to animate him, I mean the design was better. He just looked cooler. This thing looks like a cross between Cloverfield, The Rancor and a vagina.

I do agree with Ror (gods, help me)...the original Kraken was a stop-motion creation of Ray Harryhausen-who, coincidentally, also did the animations for Medusa, Pegasus/Perseus (in the flight sequences), the Giant Scorpions, Bubo the Owl (in flight), and Calibos (in the full-body shots)...it was not a Monkey Suit. In my opinion (what it's worth here) Mr. Harryhausen is a god of FX, and you'd be hard pressed to find anything done in that era that either a.) wasn't done by him, or b.) if done by someone else, wasn't inspired by his work.

@kaos- I may be wrong here, and I frequently am, but wasn't Medusa cursed by Aphrodite? I'm remembering a story indicating that Medusa had made claim to be as beautiful as Aphrodite, and the Goddess cursed her for her presumption. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Starsapphire - The myth is that Medusa was extremely beautiful and claimed to be even more beautiful than the gods so they cursed her to turn any man who looked upon her to stone.

A7 - Harryhausen is the man, he is a big part of the reasons I love fantasy and monsters now. He is also the only famous person I was too nervous to approach at the San Diego Con

@Mister there seems to be an alternative school of thought to suggest it was in fact Aphrodite who cursed Medusa.

I believe this idea came across from the fact Aphrodite was born from the sea - a connection to Poseidon explains why it may have upset her too.

Perhaps if Medusa did suggest she was more attractive than Aphrodite (who is said to be the most beautiful woman to behold) it would have been the final insult.

Although being the goddess of love she was one of the more gentle gods so it seems out of charter for her to even think of doing such a dark deed.

Therefore I would suggest the actual curse came from Athena, being the goddess of strategy and justice something like this would be more befitting for her role.

Looks great. Having Medusa look beautiful until she turns you to stone is an interesting touch. This has been clarified to a certain extent with that one picture with her facing Perseus and snarling, and the still from the trailer where she looks normal in the face. The Kraken looks like it has legs. Charon (the ferryman), looks like he's part of the ferry. And Calibos (who starts off as Acrisius in this version) looks demonic.
