Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has now officially been confirmed to have reached $800 million at the worldwide box office. Domestically it has made $229.9 million while it has also made $570.1 million overseas. That is exactly $800 million.

This $800 million dollar mark means that the Harry Potter spin-off is the 59th highest grossing film worldwide surpassing Shrek The Third's $799 million. This milestone always means that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is no longer the lowest grossing film in the Harry Potter franchise; that title now belongs to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ($796.7 million).

This is great news for Warner Bros. since it is now their second highest grossing film of 2016 after Batman v Superman ($873 million). It also means that the JK Rowling-written flick has received great reception and word of mouth despite opening to only $74 million in North America. There are several sequels planned for the near future. Do you see any of them making $1 billion? Sound off below!

Good movie. Kind of overshadowed by Dr. Strange and R1, but it had some great performances.

Wow. Was not expecting this to make that much money. A lot of money indeed, but not this much. Good for them.

[frick] Yeah!

I remember everyone bragging about how it made less than DS opening weekend, but now its surpassed that film.

And this is coming from someone who thinks DS is one of the best cbm's of all time, but people were annoying that day lol

I bet at least one film in this five film series will hit a billion, with the war coming, if not more.

Very happy for its success. But kinda sucks that Prisoner of Azkaban, the best Harry Potter movie, has made the least amount of money at the box office.
