Warner Bros. has announced that the third instalment in the Fantastic Beasts franchise will be officially titled "The Secrets of Dumbledore," and Harry Potter fans will get to return to the Wizarding World next Easter, as the movie has also been given a new, earlier release date.

Originally scheduled to hit theaters on July 15, 2022, Fantastic Beasts 3 has been moved forward three months and will open globally on April 15, 2022.

Check out the title treatment below.

Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Jude Law and Ezra Miller are all set to reprise their respective roles from the previous instalments, with David Yates back behind the camera. There will be one major casting change, however.

Johnny Depp revealed that he'd been asked to "resign" from his role as the villainous Gellert Grindelwald last year. Though he didn't specify the reason at the time, this came just days after the Pirates of the Caribbean star lost a libel case against British tabloid The Sun, who labelled him a "wife-beater" in a 2019 article.

Shortly after, WB announced that Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) had signed on to replace Depp as the character.

Specific plot details are still under wraps, but the story will evidently revolve around Dumbledore... and his secrets!

@Cap1 - They should reveal him as transgender as a middle finger to JK.

@Cap1 - didn't they already basically have him reveal that with why he didn't go after grindelwald himself? If they do the reveal and have everyone shocked, then everyone in the cast should get their gay-dars checked.

@Cap1 - I don’t think she hates Trans people though?
Don’t get me wrong, I think Rowling is a virtue signalling clown, but I think she just had an issue with removing the “trans” part from the “trans-person” label. Ya know, the whole “trans women are trans women and not just women” debate.

I do not endorse any particular side of this issue, I’m just saying lol

The series should have focused on Dumbledore from the start. Newt isn’t interesting enough to carry this franchise.

Also, that title. We already know Dumbledore’s biggest secret.

I feel like this is an alternate Dumbledore to the one we have, like there rewriting history. Cuz there’s no way this badly written past could lead to the genius of the 8 films. Like if there was a kid Snape, I’d hate him, but not cuz I was supposed to… but because he’s motivated by Grindelwald or some dumb nonsense.

I liked the last one but I gotta wonder how this is gonna do. Not only do most people not really care for these movies but now that JK Rowling has pissed off a lot of her fans to the point where even videogames she’s not really involved with are getting negative press you gotta wonder what the best case scenario is for this. The TERF stuff aside I’ll give it a chance as someone who’s always love the Potter world and find these movies at least enjoyable but I think it’s safe to say this franchise isn’t really turning out like anyone hoped

@Ha1frican - “pissed off a lot of her fans”.
Lol. The books are still selling like crazy.
The only reason to maybe stop at 4 ( instead 5) is because this particular prequel story is not engaging.

Also I know that the last movie did feature Dumbledore somewhat prominently but does anyone else think the main reason he’s in the title is a Hail Mary to get people to watch it who haven’t cared so far?

More revelations that completely contradict anything presented in the Harry Potter films. Cant wait!

It irks me that "Fantastic Beasts" has to appear in every title. Why not:

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
The Fantastic Crimes of Grindelwald
The Fantastic Secrets of Dumbledore

...etc.

Minor complaint, and tbh I haven't even seen this last one. Used to be a huge HP fan, but these films haven't really grabbed me.

Remember when this series was just supposed to be the wacky adventures of a what’s essentially a magical zoo keeper / Charles Darwin ? Pepperidge Farm remembers
GhostDog
GhostDog - 9/22/2021, 9:08 AM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - Might as well cut Fantastic Beasts out of the title at this point.

It has become THE FANTASTIC WIZARDING SOAP OPERA
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 9/22/2021, 9:12 AM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - Then it didn’t make a billion dollars like WB was predicting for every franchise and they pivoted hard just like they did with DC. I swear their executives just assumed this would be their Star Wars and the DCEU would be its MCU without trying at all
Origame
Origame - 9/22/2021, 9:25 AM
@Ha1frican - the only real pivot they did was with recasting grindelwald and distancing themselves from Rowling. Its still the fantastic beasts series, and it was always supposed to have grindelwald as the main villain with his relationship with Dumbledore explored.
