Warner Bros. has announced that the third instalment in the Fantastic Beasts franchise will be officially titled "The Secrets of Dumbledore," and Harry Potter fans will get to return to the Wizarding World next Easter, as the movie has also been given a new, earlier release date.
Originally scheduled to hit theaters on July 15, 2022, Fantastic Beasts 3 has been moved forward three months and will open globally on April 15, 2022.
Check out the title treatment below.
Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Jude Law and Ezra Miller are all set to reprise their respective roles from the previous instalments, with David Yates back behind the camera. There will be one major casting change, however.
Johnny Depp revealed that he'd been asked to "resign" from his role as the villainous Gellert Grindelwald last year. Though he didn't specify the reason at the time, this came just days after the Pirates of the Caribbean star lost a libel case against British tabloid The Sun, who labelled him a "wife-beater" in a 2019 article.
Shortly after, WB announced that Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) had signed on to replace Depp as the character.
Specific plot details are still under wraps, but the story will evidently revolve around Dumbledore... and his secrets!
