While their DC Extended Universe hasn't exactly been able to strike a chord with filmgoers just yet, Warner Bros. does still have a pretty strong ace up their sleeve with the upcoming release of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, their highly anticipated revisit into J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
They must be feeling pretty high on the film too because earlier this morning, the studio officially announced their plans for a sequel, which will be the second installment in s magical new trilogy of films. The incomparable J.K. Rowling is back on-board to pen the script, a task she may have already completed, and long-time Potter director David Yates will be back to helm his sixth project in the Potter universe. Rowling, David Heyman, & Steve Kloves will produce the picture with Lionel Wigram, Neil Blair, Rick Senat, and Danny Cohen serving as executive producers.
WB also confirmed that the film will arrive in theaters on November 16, 2018, a date they already had reserved for a mysterious WB Event film, now revealed of course as the Fantastic Beasts sequel. It's still extremely early in the process, and plot details are pretty much nonexistant at this point, but the brief placeholder synopsis reads: "The second “Fantastic Beasts” movie moves deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our other heroes have to decide on their allegiances."

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
