The website theinfoshark.biz released a casting call for extras to be used in The Hobbit. the fact that they are now looking for actors suggest that the films main cast has been cast and the project has the green light or a dimly lit green light to say the least.

The info the site gives follows:
"Extras will be needed for dozens of scenes and costumes will be provided. Filming is set for mid 2011 with an unconfirmed release date in late 2011 / early 2012. No experience is needed. Filming will take place in undisclosed UK locations and maybe abroad. Screen writer is Peter Jackson (King Kong) but the director is yet to be confirmed."

Looks life funds have cancelled out New Zeland being the priamary location for filming(maybe something to do with the actors guild to).

The site also had a lst of an "unconfirmed cast":

Cate Blanchett ... Galadriel
Hugo Weaving ... Elrond
Martin Freeman ... Bilbo Baggins
Ian McKellen ... Gandalf
Andy Serkis ... Gollum
Sylvester McCoy ... Radagast

Serkis is has to be pretty much definate as he would be hard to replace although nothing has been set in stone. Hugo Weaving and Ian McKellen's choice to reprise their roles from what i know is still not definate. McCoy has been in talks to play a role in the film as Blleding Cool reported in August, but the role has not been confirmed. Martin Freeman beeing cast as Bilbo is a new one to me but i think it's the best choice for the character so far better than Radcliffe...

What's your views on the casting?

EDITOR'S NOTE: With MGM recently filing Chapter 11 Bankruptcy proceedings, it's unlikely that any casting has been done or will be done until the studio emerges from bankruptcy.

According to the movie Bilbo hadn't aged a day from he found the ring, then it all caught up with him really quickly when he gave it up. So why not get the same dude to play Bilbo? Is he still living? Is Radagast the dude who could turn into a bear or am I thinking of something completly different

Radagast is one of the Istari. He is in reality a Maia like Gandalf, Sauron and Saruman but like Saruman and Gandalf he takes the form of an old man and appears to the people of Middle-Earth as a wizard.

The Istari were sent by the Valar to aid the people of Middle-Earth against the evil of Sauron in the Third Age.

The man who can turn himself into a bear is Beorn. To me Beorn is one of the best parts of the Hobbit.
