JOHN WICK Director Chad Stahelski Set To Helm Lionsgate's Reboot Of HIGHLANDER

There can be only one... though in the case of Lionsgate and Summit's planned Highlander reboot, many directors have come and gone since the rights were acquired back in 2008, including the likes of Justin Lin, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. However, THR now reckons the studio has finally settled on Chad Stahelski, who co-helmed John Wick along with our new Deadpool 2 director David Leitch.

"I've been a huge fan of the original property since I saw it in high school," Stahelski told the trade. "Such great themes of immortality, love, and identity are all wrapped up in such colorful mythology. I can't think of a better property that gives the opportunity to create interesting characters, mythic themes and action set pieces."

It's been a while since we heard anything about this one, but back when Nicolas-Troyan was still attached both Tom Cruise and Dave Bautista were rumored to be in the mix for the roles of Ramirez and The Kurgan respectively.

Neal H. Moritz and Peter Davis are producing the Highlander reboot, which is currently searching for a new writer.
