Jospeh Gordon-Levitt Sandman movie

"Early days. Very, very early days," said Joseph Gordon-Levitt to IGN on the subject of The Sandman movie project that he's currently confirmed to produce. Not clear, is whether Levitt will also play the lead role of the Lord of Dreams. 'Lots of potential, but it's still very early," was all he would say on the possibility of playing the titular character. Levitt was more forthcoming on what drew him to the project, stating, " I love just the basic concept of it - just the concept of personifying Dream, along with all of his brothers and sisters, the seven Endless personifying Death, personifying Destruction and Delirium and Destiny and Desire and Despair. I mean, that's just a fascinating and, I think, a really cinematic concept. You look at the art of Sandman, and it just looks spectacular. I love big, spectacular movies, but oftentimes big, spectacular movies sort of get stuck in a rut. They go down certain paths that end in big explosions or whatever. Sandman has so much opportunity to do something that's on a grand, grand scale, but really unlike your average big, grand-scale, spectacular movie. I guess that's the tip of the iceberg."

Talk then moved to Robert Rodriguez's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and then concluded with whether Joseph would be open to starring in a Marvel Studios film? The Dark Knight Rises actor doesn't seem particularly opposed. "Yeah, I don't pay as much attention to the categories or genres of things. I pay attention to what the material is about. Does it resonate with me? Does it inspire me? Who are the collaborators? That kind of thing."

David S. Goyer (Batman vs Superman), who now appears to be something of a godfather for the budding DC Cinematic Universe, wrote the treatment/pitch for the film which got WB interested. It's unknown if he will write the actual script for The Sandman movie. It's also unconfirmed at present (but heavily rumored) that in addition to serving as producer, Levitt will also direct and star.

A Sandman movie can be really awesome! It can be as visionary as movie like MoS and Man of Steel while also have such a rich story like Lord of the Rings.

I hope it's based on the Nocturnes with him retrieving his items and rebuilding his Kindom while also adapting to the new era he missed.

Keep Goyer the hell away from the project, make sure Gaiman's on board, and don't let JGL play Morpheus, and I'm all in. ;^)

I think Levitt has range and depth, and Gaiman wouldn't let this be shit,he cares too much about it

if you look at the sam keith version...he looks very much benedict cumberbatch...I know this has been said a million times over ad nauseum.. but read Morpheus' parts with cumberbatchs voice in your head and tell me otherwise. He has a very commanding voice and presence that would be lacking if levitt got the role (he is not very imposing nor commanding...though he is a fairly competent actor) that's just my feeling though...who knows who will get the part.

Could you imagine this movie with Aronofsky directing, JGL producing and possibly helping write, and Cumberbatch starring

Naw....300? was a revisionist historical thing unto itself, sin city? a noir throwback. the dreaming should be just limitless fantasy....colorful...strange creatures kind of like a light hearted fanciful take on a heironymous bosch painting mixed with Salvador dali. remember, gaimans inspiration was a lot of high fantasy literature

JGL was pursued for GOTG and DOCTOR STRANGE and ANT-MAN. He doesn't want to work with Marvel. He rather would aim high and try to direct one himself. Good for him, I respect ambition and blazing your own trail.

Not saying it'll work or be a good film, but you have to respect him wanting to try.

I just can't see Levitt as Morpheus. I may be wrong, but he just doesn't seem like a good candidate for the lead. In fact, I honestly can't think of anyone who seems right for the role.

I actually dream (yeah!) about an Aronofsky Sandman movie starring Cumberbatch for some time now. Seriously, this combination plus JGL, and with Gaiman on board to look over things, could be one of the [frick]ing coolest things ever!! :D

I'm strangely looking forward to this film even though i dont know much about Sandman. I knew he was featured with The Justice League in a comic book. I think this film should get pushed out quickly.

Once again you speak out of your ass again.
Have you even read a story involving Dream? This has to be one of the most crazy comments I have ever seen. The Sandman is absolutely NOTHING like Inception. Zero..nada.. Do yourself a favor and go read the entire run and realize how dumb you sound. This has potential and I cannot absolutely wait to see Dream on live action.

The only way this works is if Rob Liefeld writes it and M. Night Shyamalan directs it. Danny Elfman does the score and Mos Def does the narration.

JGL will star, no question. The Sandman is absolutely amazing and as much as I would love to see it I wonder hoe well it would translate. If they could pull this off it would be amazing!!!!

Hahaaa oh man I love when new guys come on here and think they are so badass on the internet. Listen buddy, try to actually do something called "reading" like a book, article, or a comic before criticizing something that I assume you have probably never even heard before.

PhuckYoo......more like phuckOFF. I love Nolan but his interpretation of dreamscapes was downright turgid(though it was integral to the plot to keep the dream as grounded inreality as possible to keep up the charade and fool the mark). it is quite obvious youre probably some high school wannabe fanboy who thinks just because he say the Nolan bat trilogy and the marvel phase one films that you're some kinda expert....tell you what walk you're lil baby nuts to the local comic shop or your computer...do some research on sandman...That's SANDMAN.written by neil gaiman son..not the first iteration by gardner fox...and not the second one by joe simon...but neiiiil gaiiiiman. When you're done reading it all...come back and have an opinion...till then shut the hell up.
