It's been a while since we had any updates on this one, but Netflix (via SFFGazette.com) has now shared a first-look image and some footage from Damsel, which stars Stranger Things alum Millie Bobby Brown as a princess with a bit of a dragon problem.

The Enola Holmes star plays Elodie, a princess who agrees to marry the charming Prince Henry before coming to realize that his royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to a dragon to repay an ancient debt.

When it becomes clear that no knights in shining armour are coming to save her, Elodie decides to take matters into her own hands and slay the fire-breathing beast herself.

It's difficult to get a proper read on this from the few seconds of footage in the Netflix 2023 preview below, but the cast is strong, and it sounds like a fun premise.

Damsel is directed Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later, Intruders), and also stars Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, and Nick Robinson.

The fantasy adventure is set to premiere on October 13.

If it’s good cool but she’s such an overrated actress to me.

@TyrantBossMedia - Can no longer have a woman who is a damsel in distress.

@marvel72 - And it doesn't bother me to have a strong women, but they tend to now make the woman strong, but in turn make the men either weak, evil or incompetent.

A great example of strong women who can hang with the guys is....

- The first Matrix Movie
and before that
- Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Jolie and Pitt)

They are actually doing a disservice to women by intentionally making men weaker while the women are stronger.

@TyrantBossMedia - And I agree with you. It's why I hate most modern movies.

10 bucks say she's gonna be stuck with "tough face" looks on the posters and roles in movies/tv shows for next decade!

@TheOtherOn - It's not "Tough Face" it's "Fart Face". Looks like they are trying to squeeze one out. Once you see it it can't be unseen. Marvel women do this a lot now

I like the premise, even if it kinda reminds me of Cursed. That said, I'll probably give this a watch. Always like seeing dragons

@Taonrey @Kyos - looks like you're not the only one thinking of the Princess.

Did that movie have dragons though?

@bkmeijer1 - I was thinking of The Princess too. No dragons just implausible fight scenes and some cringey moments

The sequel needs to be a crossover movie where she falls in love with the princess from... The Princess.

@IcePyke - aside from some the issues those stories have today, I do still wanna see a tv show based on Children's and Household Tales.

Well, either that or a tv show based on Fables.

Tough to judge something based on 5 seconds of footage.

I wonder when filmakers are going to realize that a woman not being a damsel in distress is hardly new and innovative enough to try and make some kind title/plot statement about it.

But the premise might be entertaining, we'll see.

Didn't they already do this with "The Princess"?
